  • Patent number: 4509454
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus adapted to apply a layer of viscous sticky material, particularly varnish, in the form of a pattern or otherwise, to a substrate. The apparatus comprises an applicator roll 1, and an impression roll 2, between which sheets 3 for printing are fed, by feed means. The means for applying the varnish to the applicator roll consist of a cylindrical screen stencil 8 with an internal squeegee device 9.The applicator roll is also displaceable so that it can be moved away from the impression roll 2 in the absence of a sheet to be printed in the event of a malfunction in the feed means.

  • Patent number: 4288212
Abstract: A method and apparatus for fixing the binding agent of a dye-stuff to a printed web of material by means of heat applied to the web within a treatment or polymerization chamber. The treatment time of the web is increased by effecting a loop formation of the web upon a slowly moving belt traveling within the treatment chamber. After the web is first introduced into the chamber, it is then heated. Thereafter, the loop formation takes place. Upon leaving the treatment chamber, the web is passed over a stationary, curved shape heated plate, which smooths the web.

  • Patent number: 4256037
Abstract: An apparatus for the intermittent printing of material has at least one printing cylinder and an endless band for supporting the material to be printed. A portion of the band which is in printing engagement with the printing cylinder is supported on one side by supporting members and each supporting member is positioned opposite a printing cylinder. Each supporting member is movable transversely away from its respective printing cylinder. The pressure on the side of the band supported by the supporting member is less than the atmospheric pressure on the other side of the band so that when the supporting member is moved away from the printing cylinder the endless band will remain in contact with the supporting member and thus be spaced away from the printing cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4164184
Abstract: A supporting structure for a stencil in a rotation screen printing machine. The stencil includes a thin-walled perforated cylinder having at both ends a ring secured via an annular connecting area to an extremity of the cylinder. The machine includes two opposite stationary parts each with an internal rotatable sleeve for connection with the end rings of the stencil, an aligning bearing within each part for supporting the sleeve, an universal joint element being provided in the supporting end structure of the stencil.

  • Patent number: 4128056
Abstract: A cylindrical stencil for screen printing consisting of a perforated thin-walled sleeve with a rigid end ring at both ends; each of said rings being connected to a supporting member via a connection excluding any play in rotational direction, said connection comprising a member of plastically deformable material.

  • Patent number: RE30143
Abstract: A rotary screen printing machine of the type including at least one cylindrical stencil, each with a squeegee blade for forcing a printing fluid such as paint or paste through apertures in the stencil onto a textile web or sheet of paper. The squeegee of the present invention is formed as a thin flexible metal strip having a thickness less than 1% of the width of the portion of such strip protruding from its holder. The squeegee blade is suspended at two locations mounted in a holder, at least one location having transverse slot permitting lateral expansion and contraction to compensate for vertical deflection of the blade or of the holder.
