  • Patent number: 4847877
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the fast detection of a predetermined pattern of n bits embedded in a serial bit stream. The n bits are adjacent or regularly distributed over the bit stream, and form a unique word which may in particular be used as a synchronization pattern, the detection of which allows to conclude that a synchronization status has been reached within the signal detected at a reception node. The method consists in detecting first a synchronization root, which is a subset of n' consecutive bits of the unique word. Then, succeeding potential bits of the unique word are detected from the serial bit stream, and each potential bit of the unique word is compared to the corresponding bit of the stored unique word. At each match, a counter is incremented, and when the count of the consecutive matches reaches a predetermined number, the unique word is said to be detected.

  • Patent number: 4434486
Abstract: A self-switched in-band signaling communication apparatus is disclosed which enables the switching of the signaling mode to the data mode on a single transmission line between a data terminal equipment or data communication equipment and the data port of a satellite communications controller, and the opposite switching from the data mode to the signaling mode under a single control bit. Signaling to and from the data port of the satellite communications controller is carried out using conventional dialing pulses at a signaling rate which is independent of the line data rate. The apparatus provides for the multipoint communication between a plurality of data terminal equipments using a unique multipoint turn-around process which provides a mobile bandwidth capability for the communications system.

  • Patent number: 3975588
Abstract: An acoustic feedback control to be installed in every extension provided with a loud speaker and a microphone in a digital telephone system. Each extension is provided with a coder and a decoder of the syllabic compression type which therefore have quantizing steps varying with the voice level at the input of the transmission channels between two extensions. A comparator receives the step information from the coder and decoder and prevents the decoder step from increasing when the coder step exceeds the decoder step.
