  • Patent number: 7004205
Abstract: A unidirectional textile reinforcing sheath capable of being taped onto a mechanical structure to be reinforced, said sheath being formed from a tape produced by the weaving of high-strength warp threads based on aramid, and having a central zone bordered by two lateral zones, the thickness of the lateral zones being less than that of the central zone.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 13, 2004
Date of Patent: February 28, 2006
    Assignee: Chomarat Composites

  • Publication number: 20040081815
Abstract: Reinforcing tape (1) that includes a ply (2) of longitudinal, aramid-, glass- or carbon-based high-tenacity yarns (3) bound together by weft yarns (4), which tape includes two thermoplastic films (5, 6), each placed on one side of the ply (2) of high-tenacity yarns (3).

  • Publication number: 20030224141
Abstract: A reinforcing product includes a first layer (2) of reinforcing threads (3) parallel to each other and a second layer (4) of reinforcing threads (5) parallel to each other and transverse to the first layer (2). The reinforcing threads (3) in the first layer (2) are partially covered by a powder based on a thermoplastic or thermosetting material forming a bond firstly at points between the reinforcing threads (3) in the first layer (2), and secondly between the reinforcing threads (3) in the first layer (2) and the reinforcing threads (5) in the second layer (4).

  • Publication number: 20030180514
Abstract: According to the invention, in the unidirectional strengthening composite (1) based on thread laps, said thread laps consist of a first lap (2) of mutually parallel strengthening threads (3), a second lap (4) of bonding threads (5) composed of a fibrous core coated with a thermoplastic and running transversely to the threads (3) of the first lap (2), being crossed without interlacing, said strengthening threads (3) of the first lap (2) being bonded, at least locally, to the bonding threads (5) of the second lap (4) by fusion of the thermoplastic, and optionally a third lap (6) of strengthening threads (7) parallel to one another and to those of the first lap (2) and bonded, at least locally, to the coated bonding threads (5) by fusion of the thermoplastic, the coated bonding threads (5) of the second lap (4) being trapped between the strengthening threads (3) of the first lap (2) and the strengthening threads (7) of the third lap (6).

  • Patent number: 4949417
Abstract: An abrasive and/or scouring pad, comprising a core of foam between two nonwovens, wherein the core is a polyurethane foam and the nonwovens are based on a mixture of polyamide and polyester fibers. The polyamide has physical properties similar to those of the polyurethane foam. The nonwovens and the foam are bonded together at their periphery by thermal-welding, either directly, or by two layers of heat-fusible or heat-softening material placed on either side of the foam.

  • Patent number: 4856134
Abstract: A pad which can be abrasive, scouring or both, is formed as a block of foam between two nonwovens. The foam is a polyurethane foam and the nonwovens are based on a mixture of polyamide and polyester fibers. The polyamide fibers have physical properties similar to those of the polyurethane foam. The nonwovens and the foam block are bonded together at their periphery by thermal-welding. The pad can be coated with abrasive fillers. It can also be used for scouring delicate surfaces when it contains little or no abrasive fillers.
