  • Patent number: 5946739
Abstract: A mixing chamber for use in a toilet sanitizing system consists of a cylindrical housing having an upper opening closed by a closure cap. The closure cap is removed to gain access to the internal chamber of the housing and is threaded over the upper opening to close the internal chamber. The internal chamber of the housing includes a spring to support a lower surface of a dispenser enclosing a block of germicide substance that is inserted into the internal chamber through the upper opening while the closure cap is removed. The internal chamber has three ports, an upper inlet port that enters the internal chamber tangentially, a middle outlet port exiting the chamber radially, and a lower outlet port radially exiting the chamber and located just above a lower wall of the chamber. The upper port is connected to a source of water, the middle port is connected to a toilet bowl, and the lower port is connected to the associated toilet seat.

  • Patent number: 5925263
Abstract: A handheld needle incinerator is self-contained within a portable housing and includes a guideway designed to guide the external walls of a diabetes pen-type injector into the incinerating chamber. Two spaced electrodes are simultaneously engaged by the needle to complete an electrical circuit and cause needle incineration. One electrode is dome-shaped and protrudes through an opening in the other electrode. Surrounding the opening in the other electrode is an annular generally conical surface designed to act like a ramp and lead the end of the needle toward the dome-shaped electrode to cause completion of the electrical circuit.

  • Patent number: 5813057
Abstract: A self-sanitizing toilet seat cleaning apparatus includes a seat in the shape of a generally circular ring that is rotatably mounted above the toilet bowl and includes a gear on its underside meshing with a pinion gear attached to the drive shaft of a drive motor for the seat. An arm extends over a rear portion of the seat and includes flow passages that convey a disinfectant on top of the seat, under the seat, and into the toilet bowl. Under the arm, a wiper is provided that wipes the top surface of the seat as it rotates. The toilet includes a weight sensor that stops rotation of the seat if a person is sitting on it and a proximity sensor to activate flushing of the toilet and rotation and disinfecting of the seat and bowl.

  • Patent number: 5710404
Abstract: A portable hand-held device facilitates incineration of needles such as those used in hypodermic syringes. Incineration of such needles precludes the spread of diseases and the possibility of contamination of personnel handling such needles. The device includes two electrodes that are interconnected to complete the circuit when a needle is inserted into a recess in the device. A groove in the guide for the hand-held device allows full insertion of the a syringe to facilitate complete incineration of the needle, leaving little or no residue behind. An ambient temperature sensor senses the temperature adjacent the electrodes and cuts off power when the temperature exceeds a pre-set level.
