  • Patent number: 11651235
Abstract: A method, computer system, and a computer program product for generating a candidate set of entities from a training set of entities is provided. The present invention may include determining an ontology class for an input entity in the training set of entities. The present invention may include adding the input entity to an ontology list. The present invention may then include assigning an entity score to the input entity. The present invention may also include normalizing the ontology list of entity scores. The present invention may lastly include selecting the candidate set of entities with the highest entity score.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 28, 2018
Date of Patent: May 16, 2023
    Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION
Inventors: William S. Spangler, Alix Lacoste, Katherine Shen, Hrishikesh Sathe, Jacques Labrie

  • Patent number: 10607720
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for associating gene expression data with a disease name. A first data set associated with a plurality of genetic probes for a plurality of biological samples may be received. The first data set may be sorted based on a normalized gene expression values for the plurality of genetic probes. A largest value gap of the normalized gene expression values may be identified. A set of expressed genes within the first data set may be identified. An indexable document may be generated for a biological sample of the plurality of biological samples comprising data associated with the set of expressed genes. A second data set associated with an expressed gene of the set of expressed genes may be searched. A disease name may be associated with an expressed gene based on a threshold correlation between the disease name and the expressed gene.

  • Patent number: 8093442
Abstract: The method of the invention provides means of destroying highly stable metal cyanide ions found in a solution, and converting the cyanide to harmless by-products. Contrary to conventional methods which merely complex the cyanide into a mechanically or physically removable complex, the present method destroys the cyanide found in the sample. The invention is directed to a method of destroying cyanide comprising providing a highly alkaline solution containing a metal cyanide ions; and subjecting the solution to electro-oxidation.

Date of Patent: January 10, 2012
Assignee: Rio Tinto Alcan International Limited

  • Patent number: 5717925
Abstract: A computer implemented information catalog database system is disclosed for cataloging information stored in one or more data storage resources under the control of one or more data processing nodes. The catalog system includes a cataloging service facility for performing one or more information cataloging functions to organize and present a graphical view of the information stored in the data storage resource. The information cataloging functions are categorized into a plurality of defined function categories. An object generation facility generates one or more meta-data objects corresponding to units of information stored in the data storage resource. The meta-data objects contain attributes defining characteristics of the information units to which they correspond and the meta-data objects are assigned to one or more of the function categories to define the information cataloging functions which may be performed on the meta-data objects.
