  • Patent number: 5492639
Abstract: A mandrel lubricant for use in the production of seamless tubes. The mandrel lubricant composed of graphite, clay minerals from the smectite class, a polysaccharide and optionally a surfactant. The coating of the mandrels that have passed through a cooling bath takes place in the form of an aqueous dispersion.

  • Patent number: 5271854
Abstract: Lubricant for use in hot forming of steel at high temperatures and especially in the production of seamless tubes in so-called multiple pipe mills, in which the lubricant must adhere water-resistant to the tool. This is achieved by a lubricant containing, besides a solid lubricant and a thickening agent, a binding agent from the series of the carboxylated styrene-butadiene latices.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Lonza Ltd.
    Inventors: Hans-Rudolf Staub, Jacques Periard
  • Patent number: 4810600
Abstract: A cathode coating dispersion containing graphite and/or carbon black, which is suitable for battery production, especially for a water-resistant and alkali-resistant and yet electrically conductive coating of the cathode surfaces. The protective film is applied as a homogeneous aqueous dispersion and contains a binder which is a copolymer of (a) vinyl acetate and ethylene, (b) vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride, (c) styrene and butadiene or (d) vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride and ethylene.

  • Patent number: 4808324
Abstract: Lubricant system for sheet and section rolling mills, containing a solid lubricant, an adhesive component and/or a thickening agent, and also water as a carrier medium. The lubricant system is sprayed onto the working cylinder in the roll stand as a suspension, at least some of the water evaporating and a firmly adhering, waterproof, lubricating and separating film forming on the working cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4710307
Abstract: Agent for the pickling of and as an antioxidant for workpieces made of iron and steel in the case of when they are subjected to non-cutting, hot transformation. The agent is used in dry form. The agent contains: (a) 20 to 80 percent by weight of a pickling-effective compound, such as, sodium metaborate; (b) 1 to 80 percent by weight of a component, such as, graphite; and (c) zero to 79 percent by weight of at least one substance selected from group (d), (e) and/or (f). Zero to 35 percent by weight of group (d), such as, coke, can be used as substance (c) and, for example, act as antioxidants. Zero to 50 percent by weight of group (e), such as, sodium chloride, can be used as substance (c), and control the physical characteristics. Zero to 5 percent by weight of group (f), such as, ammonium chloride, can be used as substance (c) and, for example, act on the reduction of the oxides of group (a).
