  • Patent number: 4258774
Abstract: A reinforcement belt for a pneumatic tire includes at least three superpositioned plies of filiform elements. A first ply having two free lateral edges has at least one lateral edge portion folded over to create a skirt with the balance of the first ply forming a main portion having an axial width substantially equal to the axial width of the reinforcement belt. The filiform elements in this first ply are of aromatic polyamide composition and have a high modulus of elasticity. A second ply extends parallel to the first ply over an axial distance at least equal to the axial spacing of the two free lateral edges of the first ply. The filiform elements in the second ply may be either of aromatic polyamide or steel composition. A third ply of filiform elements of steel extends into the median zone of the belt and has an axial width which is less than, equal to or greater than the distance separating the free edges of the first ply. Various orientations of the plies are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4079645
Abstract: Reciprocally displaceable window gripping means such as a suction device grips windows successively at a first position and deposits them in a stack at a second position. Nipper means reciprocally displaceable with the gripping means grips the free end of a strip of separator material, such as paper or the like, at the second position and pulls the strip over a stacked window during the return to the first position. Severing means severs the portion of the strip over the stack from a strip supply and the nipper means releases to deposit the severed portion on the stacked window. Preferably the gripping means and nipper means are mounted on a carriage. Windows may be successively delivered by a conveyor and centering and arresting means are provided. Roll supply driving and path lengthening means are described.

  • Patent number: 3966048
Abstract: Inspection apparatus for glass articles, particularly curved glass panes produced by a tempering and shaping furnace, including a jig providing a reference shape with which the shape of the article is compared, conveyors for feeding and removing the articles and a carriage for moving the articles between the conveyors and the jig and rejection means for rejecting broken or mishapen articles. The articles are lifted by pneumatic seizing devices carried by the carriage.

  • Patent number: 3949797
Abstract: A high speed pneumatic tire with a tread whose width of running contact with the ground is automatically variable. The tread consists of a central portion that is in constant contact over its entire width with the ground and two lateral shoulder portions which are respectively arranged on each side of the central portion and are each separated from the central portion by an essentially continuous circumferential groove that forms a flexible joint or coupling. Each lateral shoulder portion of the tread is radially contracted and inclined with respect to the central portion so that it contacts the ground where required by the dynamic forces on the tire, e.g., acceleration, turning and braking. The central and lateral shoulder portions of the tread each may have the same or different design patterns for particular purpose, e.g., snow, anti-skid.
