  • Patent number: 5211788
Abstract: A tennis ball comprising a hollow, spherical rubber ball (2) and a felt covering (4) attached to the rubber ball by an adhesive, characterized in that the felt covering is cut out from a felted fabric manufactured through steps of knitting a circular knitted high-pile fabric by laying blended slivers of wool fibers and nylon fibers in a circular knitted fabric in knitting the latter on a circular knitting machine so that the component fibers of the blended sliver extend as pile fibers on one surface of the base portion of the circular knitted high-pile fabric, needle-punching the circular knitted fabric so that each pile fiber is anchored at least at two parts thereof to the other surface of the base portion, and milling the needle-punched circular knitted high-pile fabric.

  • Patent number: 4272076
Abstract: A tetherable game ball is provided that includes a resilient hollow ball (48) having an aperture (52) through which a line (54) having two ends extends therethrough to a position within the hollow ball (48) to form a loop located exteriorly of the ball (48) for allowing a tether to be secured thereto. Each end of the line (54) that is located within the hollow ball (48) forms a knot (56, 58) for restraining the line (54) from being pulled through the aperture (52). The game ball can be constructed so as to have rebound and elastic properties similar to those of a racquet ball.

  • Patent number: 4240629
Abstract: A tetherable game ball is provided that includes a resilient spherical hollow ball (12) having an aperture (14) through which a knotted line (17) extends therethrough and forms a loop extending exteriorly of hollow ball (12) allowing a tether to be secured thereto. Aperture (14) is tapered inwardly and prevents a rigid force distributing plug (20) located within hollow ball (12) from being pulled through and out of aperture (14). The game ball can be constructed so as to have rebound and elastic properties similar to those of a racquetball.
