    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, systems and methods for providing content-based instant messaging are provided, which allows users to send and receive messages based on whether the recipient fits the criteria specified by the content of the message. The system and method of the present invention identifies recipients by matching the content of the message to the interest, or expertise profile of the recipient. By enabling individuals to communicate with people that fulfill a certain criteria, it will enable the autonomous creation of communities of interest, and facilitate the identification of “experts” without the need to create a centralized expertise database.
