  • Patent number: 6194679
Abstract: In a machine for testing and sorting miniature electrical inductors of the type having spaced-apart, opposed first and second metal-terminated ends, wherein the machine includes a feed station having an inlet, an outlet and adapted to receive bulk quantities of inductors, a rotatably mounted transport wheel the wheel having an outer rim portion that includes a plurality of separate, spaced-apart compartments adapted to receive inductors from the feed station whereby each of the compartments has a central axis that is oriented perpendicular to the axis of the wheel, a test station including testing apparatus, and a sorting station operatively connected to the testing apparatus whereby an electrical inductor that is within the sorting station can be directed by a transfer means into one of at least two receiving means based on the testing performed at the test station, wherein when an electrical inductor is located in one of the compartments of the wheel.

  • Patent number: 6100707
Abstract: To facilitate the testing of small electronic components, an improved test probe and transport wheel assembly are disclosed. The basic form of the probe features a fixed support body onto which a movable base is secured by at least one resilient structure. Secured to the movable base are a number of leads that may be moved through complementary tunnels in a fixed guide block toward the side-located terminals of an electronic component to be tested. The transport wheel assembly includes a wheel that has a number of peripherally-located compartments for receiving the electronic components. Each of the compartments includes a metal base. Also disclosed is a metal roller that is designed to press on an end of a component during testing. The metal base of each compartment and the metal roller facilitate electrical connection to the component's end-located terminals by side-located leads from the test probe.

  • Patent number: 5739696
Abstract: To facilitate the testing of small electronic components, an improved test probe is disclosed. The basic form of the probe comprises a support body made of at least one strip of circuit board material. A pill-shaped conductive contact is secured to and extends outwardly from a front end of the support body. A conductive layer of the circuit board strip connects the contact to a lead that extends outwardly from a rear end of the support body. A middle part of the support body features a series of thru-cuts that enable the support body to resiliently flex and act like a spring.

  • Patent number: 5337893
Abstract: Generally planar component carrier plates and loading plates include a framework having a perimeter portion and an interior portion having an array of component passageways. A resilient layer is positioned parallel to the interior portion and is provided with component apertures collinear with corresponding component passageways for resiliently gripping components. The component carrier and loading plates are non-rectangular, and have three or more axes of symmetry in the plane of the framework. Component carrier and loading plates are also provided with handling and alignment bores and recesses.

  • Patent number: 4926194
Abstract: Device for controlled deflection of a light beam emanating from a fixed light source, e.g. a laser beam, namely in two dimensions, by means of an adjustable deflection mirror journalled in a holding head, particularly intended for guiding a pulsed light beam along a mandering path for the purpose of marking specific points on small components (chips) or similar, characterized in that the holding head (1) for the deflection mirror (2) is journalled in itself and that a drive (3) is provided in the holding head (1) for turning the mirror (2) vertically to the rotation axis of the holding head (1).
