    Abstract: The household appliance is for receiving the cap of a screw-top jar, and for gripping the cap so firmly that a person can bring all available force to bear to crack open the cap. The appliance includes flanges (one of which is toothed) which are bent up from a flat panel. The flanges are rigid and strong, whereby they do not deflect under the gripping forces.
