  • Patent number: 9295580
Abstract: A disposable heated glove for heating a wearer's hand includes a fabric material for covering the palm and back of the hand, four finger portions for covering the wearer's fingers and a thumb portion for covering the wearer's thumb. The glove also includes five small elongated pouches with each pouch being associated with a different one of the finger and thumb portions. A quantity of exothermic chemicals is sealed within each of the pouches whereby removing chemicals from one of the pouches results in the destruction of the pouch so that it cannot be reused. In one embodiment, the chemicals are activated to create heat by manually manipulating the same to mix the chemicals. In another embodiment, the chemicals are activated by exposing them to the atmosphere.

  • Publication number: 20070117682
Abstract: The exercise apparatus of the invention is comprised essentially of a substantially spherically shaped ball having a diameter of at approximately eighteen to twenty four inches. A support structure supports the ball so that it is rotatable in substantially any direction. The ball is preferably positioned at least waist high to a person wishing to exercise using said ball. To exercise, the person places his or her hands on opposite sides of the ball and moves them back and forth as the ball rotates about a vertical axis. Alternatively, the person can move his or her hands up and down or in substantially any direction while rotating the ball. Using a variable resistance means, the amount of force needed to rotate the ball can be adjusted so as to increase or decrease the workout. The ball can be used alone or can be positioned in front of a stationary workout apparatus such as a treadmill to be used simultaneously therewith.

  • Patent number: 6793610
Abstract: An exercising apparatus is disclosed which can be easily collapsed for shipping or storage but which is easily assembled for use. The apparatus includes an upper frame member pivotally attached to the forward end of a longitudinally extending lower base frame member. The upper frame member supports a seat including a bottom that is movable so as to be parallel to the frame member for shipping or perpendicular for use. An elongated rod has one end pivoted to the upper frame member. The other end is pivoted to a collar that surrounds the base frame member and moves along a length thereof between a shipping position where the frame members are parallel to each other and an operative position where the upper frame member extends upwardly. A pin and aperture arrangement locks the frame members in the selected position. A pair of movable arms with handles connected to an adjustable force resistor allows a user to perform a variety of exercises of the arms and upper body.

  • Patent number: 6659919
Abstract: An exercising apparatus is disclosed which allows a user to perform a variety of leg exercises including leg extensions and leg presses. The exercise apparatus has a front and a back and includes a frame having an upper frame member and a lower base frame member. A seat is mounted to the upper frame member. The lower base frame member extends forwardly of the seat and the lower end of a press arm is pivotally secured to the forward end thereof. The press arm extends upwardly to the area in front of the seat and the upper end thereof is pivotable toward and away from the seat. A first resistance, biases the press arm toward the seat. A curl bar has an upper end pivotally secured to the upper end of said press arm such that the lower end of the curl bar is pivotable toward and away from the press arm and a curl pad is adjustably mounted adjacent the lower end of the curl bar.

The exercise apparatus has a front and a back and includes a frame having an upper frame member and a lower base frame member. A seat is mounted to the upper frame member and is arranged to permit a user to sit thereon while facing forwardly. The lower base frame member extends forwardly of the seat and the lower end of a press arm is pivotally secured to the forward end thereof. The press arm extends upwardly to the area in front of the seat and the upper end thereof is pivotable toward and away from the seat. A first resistance, which may be a part of a conventional weight stack and cable system, biases the press arm toward the seat.

  • Patent number: 6558300
Abstract: A weight stack apparatus for an exercising machine includes a weight stack comprised of a plurality of weights vertically arranged on top of each other with each of said weights including a pair of spaced apart substantially vertical apertures extending therethrough. A pair of spaced apart substantially vertically extending guide rods pass through the weights as they are moved up and down. At least one of the guide rods is hollow. An upper pulley is mounted adjacent the upper end of the hollow guide rod and a cable passes over the upper pulley. A first end of the cable extends downwardly toward the weight stack and includes means for selectively connecting any desired number of the weights to the first end of the cable. A second end of the cable extends downwardly through the hollow guide rod and around a lower pulley mounted adjacent the lower end of the hollow guide rod and is connected to the exercising machine.

  • Publication number: 20030004043
Abstract: An exercising machine includes a seat having a seat back that is normally oriented in a substantially vertical orientation and a seat bottom on which the user of the machine can sit while performing a variety of different exercises. The seat and the exercising machine are designed so that the said user can sit on the seat bottom in a position facing forwardly away from the seat back or facing rearwardly toward the seat back. The seat back is movable between its substantially vertical orientation and a substantially horizontal orientation by pivoting either the top or the lower end thereof forwardly and a locking mechanism is provided for maintaining the seat back in its selected position. When the seat back is in the horizontal position, the user can sit on the seat bottom facing rearwardly and perform various exercises such as pulling exercises using the top edge or the lower end of the seat back as a horizontal restraint.

  • Patent number: 5769759
Abstract: An apparatus for simulating stair climbing is provided which allows selection of step height. A side member is pivotally mounted to a base and oriented at a selected angle with respect to the base. A displacement mechanism mounted to the base is attached to the side member for rotating the side member with respect to the base. A series of platforms travel in a selected platform path including traveling along the side member. The top surface of each platform is a predetermined horizontal distance from the top surface of an adjacent platform which corresponds to the selected angle. An apparatus for exercising the muscles of a user is also provided. A frame has a first side and a second side. A first chain loop is disposed on the first side, at least a portion of the first chain moving at a selected angle with respect to the frame. A second chain loop disposed at the second side, at least a portion of the second chain moving at the selected angle with respect to the frame.

  • Patent number: 4949951
Abstract: A body building exercise device is provided on a frame with a vertically positioned inverted "U" shaped member pivotally connected to the frame at a median position. The lower ends of the "U" shaped member are connected to a weight stack through a cable and pulley mechanism. Two bar members are connected at one end through a universal connection to the bottom ends of the first member. At the free ends of the bar, gripping means are provided to allow a "dumbbell fly" movement of the bar members to attain constant forward push force level requirements in an equidistant plane in relation to the user's body, independent of the resisting force supplied to the device from the weigh stack.
