    Abstract: The seat pan of an aircraft passenger sleeper seat is mounted on a pivot axle for movement between a normal substantially horizontal position and a tilted position in which its front edge is lower than its rear edge. The seat back comprises a first portion which is mounted for angular movement between a substantially upright position and a reclined position, and a second portion mounted on a pivot axle for movement between an erect position in which it is substantially parallel to the first portion and a reclined position in which its upper edge is lower than when in its erect position. When the seat pan is tilted and the second portion of the seat back is reclined, their upper surfaces form a substantially plane support surface for a sleeping passenger.

    Abstract: An exterior mirror assembly for a motor vehicle comprising a housing (11) containing a first mirror carrier (10, 50, 80) having a first substantially plane mirror (12, 58, 82) mounted thereon and a second mirror carrier (16, 52, 82) mounted adjacent to the first mirror carrier (10, 50, 80) for angular movement about an axis (18, 56, 86) parallel to an adjacent edge of the first mirror (12, 58, 82). The second mirror carrier (16, 52, 82) has a plane mirror (24, 66, 98) on a first face and a convex mirror (26, 68, 100) on a second face. When the second mirror carrier (16, 52, 82) in a first orientation, the mirror (24, 66, 82) on the first face forms a substantially continuous reflective surface with the mirror (12, 58, 88) on the first mirror carrier (10, 50, 80) of substantially uniform curvature.

    Abstract: An elongate carrier for use in the manufacture of extruded and other products comprising a plurality of longitudinally spaced transversely extending members (3 or 31) and means (9,11,13 or 83,85,87,89,90) extending lengthwise of the carrier to control the spacing of said members, wherein the transverse location in said carrier of said means (9,11,13 or 83,85,87,89,90) is varied along the length of said carrier. In one embodiment the carrier may be formed of zig-zag wire the longitudinal extension of which is controlled by textile or other warps extending lengthwise of the carrier but whose transverse location is varied, and in another embodiment of the invention, the carrier may be slotted or stamped metal or plastics, the location of the slots or slits in the stamped material being varied transversely. The invention also extends to a method of manufacturing the carrier.

    Abstract: A carrier for use as a stiffening member, e.g. in polymeric extrusions used in the motor and building industries, being of elongate strip form and having a plurality of longitudinally spaced, transversely extending members therein, wherein the said members are maintained in their spaced relationship by means of at least one sinuous or zig-zag securing member running longitudinally of the carrier and being welded or otherwise rigidly secured to each transversely extending member.The or each securing member may be wire having a generally uniform zig-zag construction, wherein a substantial part of a corrugation or zig-zag thereof is located between adjacent transversely extending members, or may be wire of a more extended sinuous construction such that its transverse positioning within the carrier is varied along the length of the carrier.

    Abstract: A mirror for a motor vehicle comprises reflective means having a primary surface and a secondary surface, the reflective means being arranged to reflect light which is incident on its secondary surface. A layer on its primary surface adapted to change from a transparent state to a reflective state in response to application of a control signal so as to change the field of view or the intensity of the reflected image. In another form of the invention, the reflective means is arranged, when in a first state, to reflect light from a reflective surface having a first configuration adapted to provide a first field of view. The reflective means can be changed to a second state in which light is reflected from a reflective surface having a second configuration adapted to provide a second field of view differing from said first field of view.

    Abstract: In a well obstructor for a steel wheel lugs are shown for ensuring axial (and optionally radial) positioning of the obstructor relative to the wheel rim. Preferably such lugs are turned out of the material of a band-like obstructor across at least part of its axially intermediate portion. They may be punched and bent out of a metallic such band.It is also disclosed how such a band and its retainers may be adapted for automatic assembly on to the rim by being respectively placeable on the rim along respective radial straight lines.
