  • Patent number: 5794362
Abstract: A size adjustable athletic boot of a molded plastic or composite construction which is adjustable in length, width and height allowing three dimensional fit (3-D fit) for a variety of foot sizes. The boot has a base section and a tongue section which extends from a toe end of the base section. The tongue and base sections combine to define a variable volume foot space between them. A heel section telescopes over a rear end of the base section. The heel section has a heel surface which in combination with an upper surface of the base section defines a foot support surface. A cuff extends upward from a heel wall of the heel section. The cuff and a free end of the tongue section confront one another and define a foot entry opening between them. An adjustment mechanism is adapted to selectively position the heel section on the rear end of the base section to vary the length of the foot support surface relative to the length of a user's foot.

  • Patent number: 5666670
Abstract: A protective helmet suitable for safe use by a person having long hair is disclosed. The helmet includes an outer dome-shaped shell of impact-resistant material configured to fit on the head of a wearer. A liner affixed to the inside of the shell snugly positions the helmet on the head and dissipates impact forces received by the outer shell. A hair-entraining passage formed in the rear portion of the helmet is sized to enable the wearer's hair to be gathered and controllably guided thereby. The passage may be defined by a bulge in the helmet shell or by an aperture formed therethrough. The aperture is sized small enough to prevent harmful impact penetration of an object such as a ball, hockey puck or the like with the wearer's head.

  • Patent number: 5599261
Abstract: The present invention provides an exercise device for exercising at least two groups of muscles. The device includes a first subframe supporting body support members including a foot rest and seat. A second subframe is operably coupled to the first subframe by a joint having two axes of rotation and internal stops for controlling the rotation about both axes. A back rest is carried by the second subframe. The back rest is movable in generally opposite directions to exercise the two groups of muscles. Elastomeric resistance elements are selectively and operably coupled across the joint.

  • Patent number: 5538267
Abstract: The convertible wagon of the invention includes a handle that can be pivotably attached to a latch assembly on the front of the wagon body or can be snapped in an upright position into a locking assembly on the back wall of the wagon. The wagon can be pulled when the handle is attached to the latch assembly and can be pushed when the handle is snapped into the locking assembly. A removable panel separates passenger and storage compartments within the wagon body.

  • Patent number: 5499834
Abstract: A child's tricycle comprising a pair of rear wheels, a front wheel, a seat positioned between the front and rear wheels, a support for the seat extending between the front and rear wheels, a handle for steering, and a steering fork having an upper end for supporting the handle and a bifurcated lower end for supporting the front wheel. A one-piece crank extends through the front wheel and defines outer ends disposed on opposite sides of the front wheel for holding pedals whereby a child can propel the tricycle by applying foot pressure to the pedals to thereby turn the crank and associated front wheel. A driving connection between the crank and front wheel is provided by a centrally located bend in the crank, and a centrally located opening defined by the front wheel snugly receiving the bend. A head tube is eliminated by using a steering fork and steering wheel telescoping combination which extends through vertically-aligned openings in the tubular support extending longitudinally of the tricycle.

  • Patent number: 5466912
Abstract: A convection oven includes a frame having a base member and two upright members which extend upwardly from the base member. A cooking chamber is removably supported by the frame and includes an upper enclosure member and a lower enclosure member. A housing attached to the upper enclosure member is configured so that cool air flows from a peripheral portion of an arm into a central portion of the housing and then is expelled from the arm over the upper surface of the upper enclosure member. A passive hinge connects the housing to the frame such that the housing and upper enclosure member may be both separated from the frame and lower enclosure member by lifting the housing vertically and pivoted relative to the frame and lower enclosure member. An extension ring selectively enlarges the size of the cooking chamber. A holster may hold the upper enclosure member and the housing when they are separated from the lower enclosure member.

  • Patent number: 5295927
Abstract: An improved stair climbing exercise machine is provided. The machine biomechanically simulates climbing stairs to provide exercise for a user and broadly includes a support frame, right and left foot-receiving pedals, and a drive system. The frame includes a base and a generally tubular, inclined slide mast. The pedals are mounted on respective independently moveable shuttles slidably received in channels at each side of the mast. The electrically released drive system is operably coupled to the pedals and includes a multiple pulley and strap arrangement.
