    Abstract: Water resistant sunscreening compositions are disclosed comprising a cosmetically-acceptable oil base, at least one water-insoluble ultraviolet light absorbing material which is soluble in the oil base, and a water insoluble acrylate polymer having a solubility parameter of 6 to 10 in weak hydrogen bonding solvents. The acrylate polymer serves to bind the ultraviolet light absorber to the skin and render it resistant to removal by water.
