  • Patent number: 7849606
Abstract: A pool measuring tool comprises a template tool and instructions for use for ensuring compliance with depth and position standards for diving board safety in placement of pool diving boards. The template comprises web members to extend across the pool along the centerline of the diving board placement and across the pool perpendicular to the centerline. Markers are provided to indicate positions where measurements are to be taken of the pool parameters, including pool depth and noting existence of obstructions in the pool. Measurements at the maker locations can be recorded on a worksheet for record keeping and to confirm and document compliance with various standards for diving board/pool diving safety can thereby be accomplished.

  • Patent number: 5785636
Abstract: A controlled deflection roll for forming a press with an opposed roll including an elongate tubular roll shell, an elongate support shaft extending longitudinally through the roll shell, and a fluid operated controllable load support means between the shaft and the shell, such as a piston with an open pressure hydrostatic oil interface facing the shell. The roll shell is constructed of a fabricated fiber reinforced matrix, and is comprised of a plurality of annular layers of fiber and matrix composite, so that the shell is of relatively light weight and has a reduced cross-machine bending stiffness.

  • Patent number: 5142759
Abstract: A roll cover apparatus is disclosed for covering a roll of a papermaking machine. The apparatus includes a synthetic cover which is applied to the outer peripheral surface of the roll, which is of an electrically conductive material. A plurality of fibers are randomly dispersed within the synthetic cover such that the plurality of fibers are disposed between the outer peripheral surface of the roll and an outer face of the synthetic cover. An electrically conductive material is applied to the external boundary of at least some of the fibers such that during use of the apparatus, when slippage occurs between a web of paper being treated by the apparatus and the outer face of the cover, an electrostatic charge generated by the slippage is discharged by the conductive material from the outer face of the cover to the electrically conductive roll so that scorching of the web by discharge of the charge through the web is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4861434
Abstract: An extended nip press apparatus is disclosed for pressing water from a web. The apparatus includes a press frame and a backing roll rotatably secured to the frame. An elongate shoe is connected to the frame, the shoe being movable relative to the roll. The shoe defines a concave surface having a lubricant thereon. The concave surface cooperates with the roll for defining therebetween an extended nip. An endless blanket having a first and a second lateral edge is slidable relative to the shoe, the blanket extending contiguously with the web through the nip such that the web is disposed between the blanket and the roll for pressing water from the web. First and second beads are connected to the first and second edges respectively, the beads extending continuously around the respective edges.
