Patent number: 11977956Abstract: In a general aspect, calibration is performed in a quantum computing system. In some cases, domains of a quantum computing system are identified, where the domains include respective domain control subsystems and respective subsets of quantum circuit devices in a quantum processor of the quantum computing system. Sets of measurements are obtained from one of the domains and stored in memory. Device characteristics of the quantum circuit devices of the domain are obtained based on the set of measurements, and the device characteristics are stored in a memory of the control system. Quantum logic control parameters for the subset of quantum circuit devices of the domain are obtained based on the set of measurements and stored in memory.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2023Date of Patent: May 7, 2024Assignee: Rigetti & Co, LLCInventors: Benjamin Jacob Bloom, Shane Arthur Caldwell, Michael James Curtis, Matthew J. Patent number: 11972097Abstract: Technology is described herein for facilitating a user's interaction with a digital ink document. The technology internally represents the ink document using a data structure having a hierarchy of nodes. The nodes describe respective elements in the ink document. The technology leverages the data structure to identify a set of nodes that grows upon the user's repeated selection of a particular part of the ink document. At each stage of the selection, the technology highlights a set of elements in the ink document that correspond to the current set of identified nodes. According to another illustrative aspect, the technology produces the data structure by modifying an original data structure provided by a text analysis engine. The technology performs this task with the objective of accommodating structured interaction by the user with the ink document.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2022Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Oz Solomon, Erich Søren Finkelstein, Gary Lee Caldwell, Nathan James Fish, Sergey Aleksandrovich Doroshenko

Patent number: 11078934Abstract: A method of operating a hydraulic apparatus comprising a hydraulic circuit region and hydraulic machine which is controlled to displace pulses of fluid of known volume into or out of the hydraulic circuit region, generating pulses of pressure in the hydraulic circuit region and torque in the hydraulic machine shaft. The response of parts of the hydraulic apparatus to these pulses is measured and used to determine properties of the hydraulic apparatus. The response of the pressure in the hydraulic circuit region to pulses at different pressures can be used to measure the hydraulic stiffness of parts of the hydraulic circuit region. It is possible to detect faults and to make measurements useful in subsequent operation of the hydraulic apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2016Date of Patent: August 3, 2021Assignee: ARTEMIS INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITEDInventors: Niall James Caldwell, Uwe Bernhard Pascal Stein

Patent number: 10832217Abstract: A method, computer system, and computer program product are provided for managing tasks of employees within a blockchain-based workflow system. A workflow transaction associated with a workflow stage is received from an employee. The workflow system records the workflow transaction in a workflow blockchain. Based on a smart contract recorded within the blockchain, the workflow system determining a role for the employee is authorized to perform the transaction. If authorized, the workflow system executes a set of resulting transactions indicated by the smart contract and updates at least one condition for completion of the workflow stage. When the workflow system determines that all conditions indicated in the smart contract have been completed, the workflow system finalizes the workflow stage and advances the workflow to a subsequent stage.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2018Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: ADP, LLCInventors: Guy James Elden, Mitchel Jon Maio, James Caldwell Ford
