    Abstract: Systems and methods for making clear ice are described. The system may include a housing comprising a plurality of elongate troughs. Each of the plurality of elongate troughs may have at least one flume surface wall in thermal communication with a cooling source while the housing is submerged in a fluid bath. The system may further include at least one fluid intake disposed to provide a flow of fluid to the housing and a means for distributing the flow of fluid from the at least one fluid intake into the plurality of elongate troughs while maintaining a substantially laminar fluid flow and substantially equal fluid pressure along the plurality of elongate troughs while the housing is submerged in the fluid bath and during a freezing operation of the device.

The quality control system includes a computational system including a processor and a memory, a manifold defining a passageway extending between an inlet port for receiving the gas and an outlet port, and at least one sensor in electronic communication with the computational system. The sensor is arranged to measure a physical property of the gas and transmit a signal to the computational system corresponding to the physical property of the gas. The computational system analyzes the physical property of the gas, accesses a threshold value corresponding to the physical property, compares the physical property to the threshold value, and assess a quality score for the battery cell. A corresponding method analyzes the quality of the battery cell with the quality control system.

The apparatus can include a first underwater sail(s) coupled to a first cable and second underwater sail(s) coupled to a second cable. The sails are configured to catch water flows and move their respective cables along pulleys. The first cable and the second cable can form a main cable loop that is coupled to a bull wheel. A second cable loop configures the sails to best catch the water flow. The pulleys can guide the main cable loop along a rotational direction. The rotational movement of the bullwheel can be transferred to a generator to convert the water flow into another form of energy.
