Patent number: 11693950Abstract: Computing systems with dynamic architectures may be used to secure against code-injection attacks and other exploits. A system may generate multiple representations of instructions or other data associated with each of a set of configurations of the system. The system may periodically or randomly change configurations such that malicious code that is executable in one configuration cannot be executed in another configuration. A system may also detect malicious code by comparing code previously generated in one representation with different representations of the same code. If, during execution of a representation of a program code, the system determines that the representation specifies instructions that differ from other representations of the same program code, they system may stop executing the compromised program code, change its configuration, and continue to execute another representation of the program code that has not been compromised.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2020Date of Patent: July 4, 2023Assignee: ARIZONA BOARD OF REGENTS ON BEHALF OF NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITYInventors: Paul G Flikkema, Bertrand F Cambou, James D Palmer

Patent number: 11223886Abstract: A sound bar system and method of use are disclosed. The sound bar system, in various embodiments, includes a tubular hollow housing, two woofers, two speaker assemblies, and two baffles. The tubular hollow housing includes two terminal circular openings, one at each end of the tubular hollow housing, and an interior passage that extends between the two terminal circular openings. Each terminal circular opening receives one of the woofers. The tubular hollow housing also includes two speaker assembly openings that each extend from an outer surface of the tubular hollow housing to the interior passage. Each speaker assembly opening receives one of the speaker assemblies. The baffles are located inside the interior passage, such that the baffles divide the interior passage into three isolated sound spaces. One sound space houses one woofer and one speaker assembly. Another sound space houses another woofer and another speaker assembly. The last sound space is located in between the other two sound spaces.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2020Date of Patent: January 11, 2022Assignee: GRACE DIGITAL, INC.Inventors: Greg William Fadul, James D. Patent number: 5801513Abstract: An apparatus (100) for an electronic system (106), which includes a portable unit (102) and a base unit (104), supplies backup power to the base unit (104) and is capable of recharging at least one battery (121) that operates the portable unit (102). The apparatus (100) is connected in series between the base unit (104) and a main power supply (148) and includes at least one slot (131) configured to receive the at least one battery (121). When power from the main power supply (148) is available, the apparatus (100) supplies power to the base unit (104) from the main power supply (148) and is capable of recharging the at least one battery (121). When power is not available from the main power supply (148) and the at least one battery (121) is received within the at least one slot (131), the apparatus (100) supplies power to the base unit (104) from the at least one battery (121).Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 1996Date of Patent: September 1, 1998Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Sybren Daniel Smith, James D. Patent number: 5748973Abstract: An automated, user-interactive procedure is used to obtain the right statements for computer software from the user in a way in which the statements elicited from the user are free from errors due to ambiguity, conflict, redundancy, inconsistency, and the like without compromise of user intent. The advanced integrated statements engineering system (AIRES) is an integrated environment, supporting and spanning the statements engineering life cycle. Each activity in the statements engineering life cycle is supported by a set of automated CASE tools, which taken together, comprise a suite of CASE tools in the AIRES environment. A primary feature of the assessment framework is a classification ectype (CE), which is a combination of operator controlled rules and tables to represent a category within a classification structure. CE-based statements assessment (CEBRA) provides automated support techniques to "recognize" and thus categorize English text.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1994Date of Patent: May 5, 1998Assignee: George Mason UniversityInventors: James D.
