  • Patent number: 6540484
Abstract: A thermostat is positioned within a scroll compressor such that a thermostat switch is positioned in the non-orbiting scroll, and a body of the thermostat extends through the crankcase. The thermostat communicates with a heater associated with a motor protector circuit. Current is directed to the heater causing the heater to more promptly stop operation of the scroll compressor. A bias element holds the thermostat securely within the crankcase and non-orbiting scroll such that it will not rattle during operation. Several embodiments of the thermostat are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4809685
Abstract: A locking device for a chiropractic table is disclosed. The device includes a locking bar slidably received in a locking box. First and second locking plates are pivoted within the box and have locking apertures through which the locking bar extends. The plates are pivotally biased toward each other so that the plates are in a first position wherein locking edges of the aperture grip and lock the bar relative to the box. A rotatable plate is positioned between the plates to move the plates to a second position wherein the locking edges of the plates are out of contact with the locking bar to permit free movement of the locking bar relative to the box.

  • Patent number: 4724828
Abstract: A headpiece and headpiece coupling arrangement to be used in conjunction with a chiropractic treatment table, allowing the practitioner to select any one or more of six different modes of movement of the headrest relative to the main portion of the treatment table is disclosed. In addition to the somewhat conventional pivotal motion about a horizotal axis, the present invention provides the practitioner with pivotal motion about a vertical axis, linear extensin or traction, rotation of the headpiece about a longitudinal axis coinciding with the patient's spinal column, auxiliary flexion of the headpiece about a horizontal axis, and an abrupt limited motion for bringing a patient's head forward and downwardly, imparting a snapping action to the cervical spine. The latter two modes of movement are mechanically linked to the rotation of the headpiece.

  • Patent number: 4649905
Abstract: A unique headpiece and headpiece coupling arrangement to be used in conjunction with a chiropractic treatment table, allowing the practitioner to select any one or more of five different modes of movement of the headrest relative to the main portion of the treatment table is disclosed. In addition to the somewhat conventional pivotal motion about a horizontal axis the present invention provides the practitioner with pivotal motion about a vertical axis, linear extension or traction, rotation of the headpiece about a longitudinal axis coinciding with the patient's spinal column and an abrupt limited motion for bringing a patient's head forward and downwardly, imparting a snapping action to the cervical spine portion.

  • Patent number: 4636858
Abstract: A television video data instrumentation recording system is coupled to a Bus Monitor/Video Encoder to incorporate a digital data recording capability within the normal video signal recording process while allowing for later digital data recovery during video playback. The digital data is acquired from a device addressable serial data bus which is normally an asynchronously polled system for exchanging data messages between a bus master device and multiple slave devices where each slave device has a unique device identification code for its messages. Data acquisition is a passive function (relative to the data bus) involving the hardward programmable selection of messages of interest (based on the message device code) and the software programmable deletion of messages that contain no data of interest. Another feature of data acquisition is that a time reference for time-of-acquisition is appended to the acquired messages of interest.

  • Patent number: 4569339
Abstract: Disclosed is a chiropractic table having an elongated, body-supporting table mounted upon a base and being centrally divided into upper and lower body supporting portions, the lower body-supporting portion being pivotally mounted at the end thereof proximal said upper body supporting portion for side-bending, rotation, and deflection movement about vertical, longitudinal, and horizontal axes, respectively. Locking mechanisms are provided for selectively locking the lower body-supporting portion in selected side bending and rotation positions.

  • Patent number: 4489714
Abstract: The invention is an apparatus for producing automatic flexion of a chiropractic table. The apparatus includes a motor driven cam mechanism and a linkage assembly coupling the cam mechanism to the anterior section of an articulated chiropractic treatment table, the apparatus producing a cyclical palpation flexion movement of the anterior section of the chiropractic treatment table in accordance with predetermined treatment procedures prescribed for the treatment of lumbar disc protrusions.

  • Patent number: 4463631
Abstract: A multipurpose can opener is provided for opening bottles having caps, cans having pull-off tabs, and cans having stay-on tabs. Only one end of the opener is utilized for opening bottles and cans, the opposite end being used solely as a handle or lever. The operating end of the multipurpose opener has three hooks extending downwardly therefrom at predetermined points and a pair of projections extending downwardly therefrom along its side edges. A first hook and the projections are utilized in removing pull-off tabs wherein the hook engages the ring of the tab and the projections abut against the can shell to act as a fulcrum during the removal of the tab. A second hook is utilized for opening stay-on tabs and it is engaged with the tab and in conjunction with the distal end of the operating end separates the scored section of the can shell when the user lifts upwardly on the handle.
