Publication number: 20110037281Abstract: A trench shovel with a tempered steel blade having a width narrower than its length, and typically has a rounded or pointed front edge for penetrating into the earth, and a transition portion that has extending there from a tubular member for attachment of a handle of rectilinear cross section. The tubular member extends from the transition portion at an angle selected to provide a pre-selected function for the trench shovel. An angle of about 90 degrees or more allows the shovel to be forced with the toes or ball of the foot in the direction of the front edge, while an angle of about 120-150 degrees allows the shovel to be forced with the toes or ball of the foot in a manner similar of conventional shovels, typically against a pair of toe pegs secured to the rear portion of the tubular member or transition portion of the trench shovel.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2010Publication date: February 17, 2011Inventor: James E. Publication number: 20100185050Abstract: A jacket of biological compatible material has an internal volume dimensioned for an apex of the heart to be inserted into the volume and for the jacket to be slipped over the heart. The jacket has a longitudinal dimension between upper and lower ends sufficient for the jacket to surround a lower portion of the heart with the jacket surrounding a valvular annulus of the heart and further surrounding the lower portion to cover at least the ventricular lower extremities of the heart. The jacket is adapted to be secured to the heart with the jacket surrounding at least the valvular annulus and the ventricular lower extremities. The jacket is adjustable on the heart to snugly conform to an external geometry of the heart and assume a maximum adjusted volume for the jacket to constrain circumferential expansion of the heart beyond the maximum adjusted volume during diastole and to permit unimpeded contraction of the heart during systole.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2010Publication date: July 22, 2010Applicant: ACORN CARDIOVASCULAR, INC.Inventors: Clifton A. Publication number: 20090137864Abstract: A method of treating pelvic organ prolapse is provided. The method generally includes the steps of establishing a first pathway between the external perirectal region of the patient to the region of the ischial spine in tissue on one side of the prolapsed organ, followed by establishing a second pathway in tissue on the contralateral side of the prolapsed organ. A support member, which includes a central support portion and two end portions, is positioned in a position to reposition said prolapsed organ in said organ's anatomically correct location. The end portions of the support member are introduced through the respective tissue pathways, followed by adjustment of the end portions so that the support member is located in a therapeutic relationship to the prolapsed organ that is to be supported. An apparatus and kit for said treatment is further provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2009Publication date: May 28, 2009Inventors: James E. Cox, Kimberly A. Anderson, Robert E. Lund, Brian P. Watschke

Publication number: 20090012592Abstract: Embodiments of the invention generally relate to an anchor used to secure a position of a device or component relative to internal tissue of a patient and prevent migration of the component relative to the tissue of the patient. In one embodiment, the anchor is combined with an electrode lead that is configured for implantation in a patient. The electrode lead comprises a lead body having a proximal end and a distal end, a stimulating electrode and an anchor. The stimulating electrode is attached to the lead body at the distal end. The anchor is positioned at the distal end of the lead body and comprises one or more protruding elements that are configured to embed within tissue of the patient.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2008Publication date: January 8, 2009Applicant: AMS Research CorporationInventors: John Jason Buysman, Jason W.
