Patent number: 7529586Abstract: At least one surface of an implantable medical device is concave along at least one axis such that it substantially conforms to a surface within a patient, such as the cranium, when it is implanted on that surface. In some embodiments, the surface of the implantable medical device substantially conforms to an arc with a radius that is between 4.5 and 9.5 centimeters, and is preferably approximately equal to 7 centimeters. In some embodiments, the implantable medical device comprises a plurality of interconnected modules, and an overmold that at least partially encapsulates each of the modules. In such embodiments, at least one surface of the overmold is concave along at least one axis. Further, each of the modules of such an implantable medical device may comprise a housing, and at least one surface of at least one of the housings may be concave along at least one axis.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2003Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventors: Carl D. Patent number: 4991145Abstract: A detector and alarm is provided for monitoring air pressure variations in a monitored space, which variations correspond to an intrusion. An infra-sonic detector includes a microphone or the like and a low pass filter to retain only low frequency infra-sonic signals or a bandpass filter to retain a particular range of frequencies between approximately 5 Hz and 12 Hz. The instantaneous infra-sonic signals are compared against a variable reference signal, which is a voltage lagging or delayed variant of the instantaneous signals. In this manner the detector is self adjusting for slow variations in the instantaneous signals but responds immediately to rapid variations to trigger an alarm. In one embodiment the detector only senses negative going air pressure changes to trigger an alarm in order to minimize the incidence of false alarms.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1989Date of Patent: February 5, 1991Assignee: Rabbit Systems, Inc.Inventors: Steven G. Goldstein, James E. Randall, Joseph A. Dattilo, Gary E. Vanyek

Patent number: 4940040Abstract: An adjustable oven for mass cooking of food products comprising an essentially sealed enclosure having a conveyor received therethrough for conveying food through the oven. A heated gaseous cooking medium is applied to the food product during conveyance through the oven by impingement of the cooking medium at high velocity through spaced duct fingers disposed above and below the conveyor system. The gaseous cooking medium is heated and circulated through the oven at high velocity and subsequently recirculated for continuous cooking of food products in the oven. The cooking oven enables optimization of the cooking process by allowing at least certain of the duct fingers to be vertically adjustable relative to the food product so as to maximize heat transfer therefrom for any particular food product.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1989Date of Patent: July 10, 1990Assignee: Stein, Inc.Inventors: James E. Randall, Ronald D. Lemke, Robert A. Mesteller
