  • Publication number: 20230376619
Abstract: A device that encapsulates functions necessary to sanitize an electronic system after detecting tampering or when user zeroization occurs. The device includes a FPGA, sensors, external tamper sensors, a battery, interfaces or discrete signals required to execute sanitization of hard drives, flash, registers, etc. The device issues a sanitization response through interface commands Manual sanitization (zeroization) can be achieved two ways, locally or through a remote zeroize button/switch/discrete. The sanitization response is activated through monitoring the tamper sensors. The sanitization response will destroy stored data and encryption keys before they can be compromised. The sanitization response could produce a notification that an event has occurred. The system can provide data protection without main line or standby power. Sensors could include, chassis intrusion switches, motion detectors, radiation sensors, light sensors, temperature sensors, magnetic sensors, or other external inputs.

  • Publication number: 20220007541
Abstract: A system and method enabling the use of convection cooled dual-inline memory modules (DIMM) in non-convection environments, specifically used for computing applications for harsh environments. This system and method describes a design which transfers heat from the various components on the memory module to thermally opportunistic areas of an enclosure in the absence of sufficient or in some cases any convective cooling conditions. The system and method describes a sandwiched metal heat plate assembly, being constructed from a thermally conductive material, which is attached to a heat pipe, designed to be highly thermally conductive, which is further attached to a thermally conductive cold plate saddle, which in turn is connected to a thermal sink. The heat generated in the DIMM is conducted to the heat plate by way of a thermal interface material, this energy transferred to the heat pipe, and then to a cold plate which dissipates the energy to the ambient environment.

  • Patent number: 10193248
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for allowing for the use of commercial dual inline memory module (DIMM) in high shock and vibration environments while preserving serviceability. This system extends the performance of the standard Joint Electron Device Engineering (JEDEC) memory connectors in said environments without sacrificing high speed electrical performance. The system provides a simple clip which locks the module in place using the standard connector latches preventing relative motion of the connector and the DIMM thereby insuring uninterrupted computational performance. The clip may be formed with resilient ends that snap onto pivotal latching devices to prevent inadvertent opening of these latching devices. The clips may also include bumper spacers (205) on their opposite faces to engage bumper spacers of adjacent clips to maintain the modules in proper orientation.

  • Publication number: 20140223203
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for provisioning a compact power filter connection to a well-grounded connector in such a way as to include a capacitive and inductive circuit connection, extremely near the connector and filter, such that EMC compatibility is created in a space roughly 30% of traditional mechanisms and design approach to satisfy the aforementioned needs, provide the previously stated objects, include the above-listed features, and achieve the already articulated advantages. The present invention is carried out in a “post-internal ferrite bead re-radiation noise-less” manner, in a sense that ability to have noise introduced back onto a post-ferrite bead line has been greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 8417856
Abstract: A high speed sensor data transfer interface is described. The interface combines a bridge circuit, carrier voltage source, first order RC high pass filter, reference power supply, Bessel filter, and high-speed analog to digital converter on a single Smart Transducer Interface Module board (STIM) to receive data from sensors. Data from the STIM is transferred to a Network Capable Application Processor (NCAP) having a microprocessor and either a Field Programmable Gate Array or a Complex Programmable Logic Device. The NCAP transfers data to a data exchange network.

  • Patent number: 7256805
Abstract: A thermal printing apparatus and a method of controlling a thermal printing apparatus is provided wherein the duration of the strobe pulse utilized to transfer the ink from the carrier to the media is controlled and adjusted by a correction factor. The correction factor is calculated by the printer controller based directly on feedback regarding the actual transport time required to advance the media between encoder steps. Generally, the present invention controls a thermal printer in a manner that accounts for the transport speed between each encoder step and applies the correction factor to the strobe signal duration in a manner that maintains a uniform print density.

  • Patent number: 7249903
Abstract: An assembly for feeding, printing, and cutting a continuous web of material is provided. The web is fed from a roll supported in a roll feeding unit to a printer unit. The web can carry distinct image-receiving media items or can be a plain continuous web material. The assembly is particularly useful for feeding a web carrying pressure-sensitive adhesive labels to a laser printer. The printer produces printed images on each label as the web is fed through the printer. Then, the web can be cut to produce a finished roll of printed labels ready for application. The assembly includes a roll feeding unit, a printer, a controller for the roll feeding unit, and a controller for the printer which communicate with each other. The controller is responsive to sensors and signals received from the printer controller, and the printer controller is responsive to the sensors and signals received from the roll feeding unit controller. In this manner, the feeding, printing, and cutting of the web are controlled precisely.

  • Patent number: 6494587
Abstract: A method of backlighting a flat panel display over an expanded dimming range includes providing a backlight including multiple cold cathode fluorescent lamps positionable directly behind a diffuser. Each of multiple drive circuits is adapted to independently adjust arc current of at least one of the multiple cold cathode fluorescent lamps in order to change the luminance output of the at least one of the cold cathode fluorescent lamps. Control signals are provided to each of the multiple drive circuits to separately control luminance output of different cold cathode fluorescent lamps such that at the same instant the different cold cathode fluorescent lamps are driven to substantially different luminance intensities, thereby allowing a reduction of an overall minimum luminance provided by the backlight and expanding the dimmable range of the backlight. A backlight implementing the methods of the invention is also disclosed.
