  • Patent number: 6401478
Abstract: A modular ice maker having a frame formed from a base, a tub resting on the base, and a pair of opposing side panels affixed to opposing sides of side tub and base assembly. The ice maker has a refrigerated compartment with a ice forming and dispensing device and an ice storage bin receiving and storing ice from the ice forming and dispensing device. An inner door or chute rotates about a horizontal axis to provide access to the ice storage bin and to provide a surface extending outwardly of the refrigerated compartment to redirect and guide dropped ice back into the ice storage bin. An outer door sealingly closing the refrigerated compartment is provided with a surface adapted for providing a camming action to drive the inner door upwardly when the outer door is closed.

  • Patent number: 5558419
Abstract: A sliding platform for a cabinet for refrigerator and/or freezer having a stationary base secured to a floor of the cabinet and a sliding platform guided and facilitated for sliding by a plurality of loosely captured rollers between the platform and the base and prevented from tipping by anti-tip tabs. Both the platform and base have air entry air holes for delivering return air to an air passage beneath a top surface of the base.

  • Patent number: 5553936
Abstract: An appliance including a compartment liner having a back wall, side walls, and rounded corners connecting the back wall to the side walls includes a shelf mounting system having a linear portion secured to the back wall, a hooked portion forming one edge of the linear portion and a folded leg forming an opposite edge. Spacer members extend between the linear portion and the back wall of the liner. A vertical series of slots to receive shelf brackets is laterally offset to the outside of a vertical series of fastener apertures.

  • Patent number: 5540492
Abstract: A humidity control assembly is provided for use with a refrigerator crisper pan which is constructed to snap into a plain opening in a wall of the crisper pan. The humidity control assembly is formed of two pieces, a slide body having detents for securing the body in the wall of the crisper pan and a track for receiving a control slide member. The control slide member is received in the track and can slide to change the effective size of an opening through the slide body. No additional fasteners are required to hold the humidity control assembly in the crisper pan and no special molding or machining is required for the crisper pan.

  • Patent number: 5502983
Abstract: A condenser coil and a method of manufacturing thereof, with an extended heat transfer surface attached to a serpentine coil such that the assembly can be folded into a U-shape cross section to allow for cross flow of air through and around the condensing coil. In one embodiment, wires are attached to the serpentine coil in a preliminary stage of manufacture across a width of the coil along its length and the coil is wrapped into a U-shape. In a second embodiment, a planar flat plate is attached to a serpentine coil and the coil and flat plate are wrapped into a U-shape.

  • Patent number: 5486045
Abstract: A shelf ladder reinforcement member is provided for use with a refrigerator having a thin liner which defines an interior compartment and in which a shelf ladder is to be secured for supporting shelves. The shelf ladder reinforcement member has a length greater than a width and has end portions with flat faces of a width substantially the same as the width of the member and intermediate portions having a flat face with a width less than the width of the member. A central portion may also be provided with a flat face having a width substantially the same as the width of the member with the first, second and third flat faces adjoining each other in a coplanar fashion. The shelf ladder reinforcement member has side walls which are angled away from the flat faces to strengthen and reinforce the member. The side walls at the first and third flat faces extend away from the flat faces by an angle of approximately 270.degree.

  • Patent number: 5403083
Abstract: A laterally adjustable cantilever shelf system for a refrigerator/freezer includes a formed metal bracket which defines a continuous channel. The bracket includes hooks to engage into slots in shelf standards in a refrigerated compartment. This enables the bracket to be placed at any select vertical position within the compartment. A shelf accessory includes sheet metal side arms each having a hook at the top rear that mates with a channel in the bracket to retain the shelf. Sufficient clearance is provided between the shelf side arm and the channel to allow the shelf to be moved by slightly lifting the front of the shelf to relieve the pressure between the top hook and the channel and applying lateral pressure. An additional hook at the bottom of the side arm interferes with the channel when the front of the shelf is lifted to prevent the shelf from becoming accidentally dislodged.

  • Patent number: 5361599
Abstract: A refrigeration apparatus cabinet includes an outer shell having walls defining a front opening. A plastic liner in the shell provides an insulation space therebetween and has connected rear and sidewalls to define a refrigerated space accessible through the shelf front opening. The liner includes a plurality of vertically spaced, aligned openings through one of the walls. An elongate reinforcement bar has a plurality of spaced, aligned openings, similar to the liner openings, the reinforcement bar being disposed behind the liner in the insulation space with each liner opening aligned with a reinforcement bar opening. A plurality of fasteners are provided, one for each liner opening.
