  • Patent number: 8251736
Abstract: A connector assembly is provided for connecting an electrical lead to the electrical contact of an electrode. The connector assembly includes a retention plate having an opening configured to receive the electrical contact of the electrode therethrough such that the retention plate is held on the electrode, and a housing including a body and a receptacle extending into the body. The receptacle includes a size and shape that is complimentarily to the electrical contact of the electrode such that the receptacle is configured to receive at least a portion of the electrical contact therein. The receptacle is configured such that when the electrical contact is received within the receptacle, the receptacle is configured to hold a portion of the electrical lead within the receptacle between the electrical contact and the body of the housing such that the electrical lead is engaged with and electrically connected to the electrical contact. A connection member is configured to hold the housing on the retention plate.

  • Publication number: 20100075537
Abstract: A connector is provided for terminating a ribbon cable having a plurality of electrical leads. Each electrical lead includes a mating portion. The connector includes a housing having a wall and a cavity. The housing is configured to hold the mating portion of each electrical lead within the cavity. The housing includes a hole extending through the wall of the housing and communicating with the cavity. The hole exposes the mating portion of at least one electrical lead through the wall.

  • Patent number: 6321103
Abstract: A fetal electrode sleeve and wire interconnect system for transmitting signals indicative of fetal heart rate from a fetus inside a mother through a cable to a monitor external to the mother. The system includes a holder having a fetal spiral electrode on one end and a maternal reference electrode on its opposite end. A safety cap has a retention groove, a grip, a tip with a recessed end opposite the grip, and a conductive sleeve. The conductive sleeve has a first end enclosed by the grip, a second end enclosed by the tip, and an intermediate exposed portion enclosed by neither the grip nor the tip.

  • Patent number: 5451169
Abstract: Connectors for attachment to cables including a large number of very small flexible conductors (26) or coaxial conductor pairs (74). In a first embodiment very small contacts (36) are arrayed on a flat mating surface (28) of the connector body (22). Contacts (36) are raised slightly above the mating surface by plating conductive metal to form raised bumps (42) on one of a pair of connectors (14, 16). Insulated individual conductors (26) are placed through apertures (48) defined in a substrate acting as a template, and are fastened in place by potting material (50) before shaping the mating surface (28) of the connector body (22) or (24) is shaped. Pin and socket combinations (30, 32) are used to align mating connectors with each other.

Abstract: Connectors for attachment to cables including a large number of very small flexible conductors or conductor pairs, in which very small contacts are provided as an array exposed on a flat mating surface. Contacts may be raised slightly above the flat surface by plating conductive metal to form raised bumps on one of a pair of connectors. Individual conductors are placed through apertures defined in a substrate acting as a template, and are potted in place before shaping the mating surface of the connector. Contact bases to be plated may be defined precisely by photoresist lithography on a cover layer attached to the template substrate, and an elastomeric layer may be provided between the cover layer and the template substrate. Pin and socket combinations are used to align mating connectors with each other.
