Patents by Inventor James Francis Domo

James Francis Domo has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 8444210
Abstract: The present disclosure provides for drag reduction on a moving object through the atmosphere, thus increasing fuel efficiency. This is accomplished by attaching an inflatable boattail (i.e. drag reducer) to the aft face or rear end of a vehicle or trailer, thus delaying the flow separation to a point further downstream and mitigating the intensity of the negative pressure on the aft face.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 21, 2010
Date of Patent: May 21, 2013
    Assignee: Aerodynamic Trailer Systems, LLC
Inventors: James Francis Domo, Patrick Edward Ryan
  • Patent number: 8276972
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an airstream deflector fairing comprising a front or fore end having a leading edge attached to an undercarriage of a wheeled vehicle. The fairing further includes a rear or aft end and a lower bottom portion of the fairing includes a panel facing the ground at an angle which in turn directs an airstream passing thereunder downwardly and outwardly relative to the undercarriage and substantially at an area below a trailing axle downstream from the fairing. The lower bottom panel includes an angle of declination relative to the undercarriage from about 12 degrees to about 24 degrees.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 2010
Date of Patent: October 2, 2012
    Assignee: Aerodynamic Trailer Systems, LLC
Inventors: James Francis Domo, Patrick Edward Ryan
  • Patent number: 7969155
Abstract: A method for identifying a fault condition associated with a power line conductor of an electrical power distribution network. The method determines if a load current carried by the conductor is above a minimum load current, determines a learned phase angle relationship between the load current and a source signal, determines a load current magnitude, determines a real-time phase angle relationship between the load current and the source signal and indicates a fault condition when the real-time phase angle relationship is within a predetermined number of angular degrees of the learned phase angle relationship and when the load current magnitude exceeds a fault-indicating current.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 28, 2011
Assignee: Thomas & Betts International, Inc.
Inventors: Mehri Varghai, James Francis Domo

  • Patent number: 7499255
Abstract: A vacuum-type electrical switching apparatus (10) for high voltage electrical power. A vacuum pressure condition in a vacuum pressure space (21) surrounding electrical contact points (18) is monitored and movement of the contact points between open and closed positions is automatically prevented when the pressure exceeds a predetermined threshold in order to avoid destructive arcing between the points. A sensor (32) provides a vacuum signal (34) responsive to the vacuum pressure condition. A controller (36) automatically inhibits movements of the contact points when the vacuum signal indicates that the vacuum has degraded. A contactor (38) may be placed in series with power supply (28) and a solenoid (24) used to move the contact points, with the contactor being automatically opened by the controller in response to the degraded vacuum condition.
