  • Patent number: 6498032
Abstract: This invention provides a labeling format for use in assays that require the immobilization of biomolecules on a flat substrate surface. The ceramic labeling indicia of the present invention provide a format that can supply the user with required identification about the substrate and its content without adversely affecting a chemically active surface required for probe immobilization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 30, 1999
Date of Patent: December 24, 2002
    Assignee: Corning Incorporated
Inventors: James G. Clements, Gregory R. Martin, Kimberly A. Moore

  • Patent number: 6103119
Abstract: A filter cartridge that includes a track etched membrane sealed therein in a leak-free manner, and a method for making the cartridge. The filter cartridge has a bubble point that is at least 50% of the bubble point of the track etched membrane. In one embodiment, the method includes disposing the track etched membrane below a heat source and orienting the membrane so that it melts back on itself, and then allowing the membrane to cool to form a leak-free seal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 12, 1999
Date of Patent: August 15, 2000
    Assignee: Whatman Inc.
Inventors: James G. Clements, William Stephen Macomber, Suzanne Surprenant
