  • Patent number: 4413698
Abstract: This invention relates to a battery controlled vehicle having a long operating time between battery recharging cycles. The vehicle is hydraulically operated and controlled by means of a variable displacement control and at constant pressure. A battery operated driving motor mechanically drives the hydraulic pumps to maintain the constant pressure while the operator controls the variable displacement valves to control the functions of the vehicle. The life of the battery is extended by means of a hydraulically driven generator that continuously recharges the battery controlling the driving motor. The battery operated motor is always operating at full speed and hence the need for a controller is eliminated, thereby simplifying the electrical controls.
