  • Patent number: 4226090
Abstract: A control system (14) for a vehicle air conditioner driven by an associated internal combustion engine of the vehicle is disclosed as including a control circuit (40) for selectively operating the air conditioner to provide cooling of the vehicle in a manner that conserves fuel without appreciably affecting passenger comfort. A sensor (62) of the control system is responsive to an increased power demand on the engine to automatically suspend operation of the air conditioner by the control circuit until the engine output is subsequently increased with respect to the power demand. The control circuit preferably provides electrical operation of the air conditioner compressor which is driven by the engine and the sensor (62) senses the intake manifold vacuum of the engine to automatically suspend compressor operation whenever the vacuum falls below a predetermined extent.

  • Patent number: 4155448
Abstract: A phonograph record cleaner having a pair of soft pile covered projections extending downwardly from a cleaner body with a still brush and a soft brush also extending downwardly between the projections. During cleaning of a record, the cleaner is oriented so that the stiffer brush precedes the softer brush, and the pile covered projections properly locate the ends of the brush bristles relative to the record surface. The stiffer bristles are longer than the softer bristles, while the softer bristles of the shorter length are more densely packed than the stiffer bristles. Indicia on the cleaner body allows the cleaner to be hand held and properly oriented during use. Both of the brushes project downwardly through openings in a hollow lower member of the cleaner body and have retainers that limit the downward movement through the openings.

  • Patent number: 4100643
Abstract: A magnetic tape sensing head cleaner disclosed has a hollow housing including a pair of housing members that are selectively latchable to each other in a closed position and releasable therefrom to permit replacement of a cleaning loop received by a track within the housing. Latching portions formed integrally with the housing members during plastic molding thereof cooperate in pairs to provide wedging latches that secure the housing members to each other in the closed position and permit repeated separation thereof for replacement of the cleaning loop. The track that receives the cleaning loop is preferably located within a cleaning loop compartment at one end of the housing and includes a drive roller, a pressure pad, and a guide loop around which the cleaning loop is driven. Adjacent another end of the housing, a storage compartment is defined for a cleaning brush, a cleaning probe, cleaning probe tips, and a cleaning fluid bottle.

  • Patent number: 4095802
Abstract: An arm record cleaner of the disclosure incorporates threaded connections for adjusting the vertical position of a cleaner arm and the tracking pressure applied by a pivotally mounted cleaning head member on a front end of the arm to a record being cleaned. A base of the cleaner supports the lower end of a vertical post by one threaded connection and the upper end of the post mounts an intermediate portion of the arm. On the opposite side of the post from the cleaning head, the arm includes a rear end on which a counterbalance is supported by another threaded connection to provide the control of the tracking pressure. The cleaning member has a soft pile covered cleaning edge and a brush and is pivotally mounted on the cleaning head so that the cleaning edge and brush balance the pressure applied to a record being cleaned. One preferred embodiment includes a rotatable nut of the base that moves the post up and down.

  • Patent number: 4086644
Abstract: A magnetic tape sensing head demagnetizer disclosed has a housing with a hollow handle portion and a clear plastic probe portion projecting outwardly from the handle portion. A coil within the handle portion receives the inner end of a core which has an outer probe end that is received by the probe portion to protect it during demagnetizing of a tape sensing head as an AC voltage provides a pulsating flux to the core. A bulb received within the handle portion of the housing shines light through the probe portion thereof to provide illumination during the demagnetizing. Closing of a normally open switch energizes the coil with the AC voltage and concomitantly applies a portion of the voltage across the coil to the bulb to provide the illumination.
