Patent number: 4784456Abstract: A fiber optical connector for splicing optical fibers end-to-end in axial alignment. The connector housing comprises a bottom section and three top sections, each hingedly attached to the bottom section. The bottom section has chambers with the V-shaped grooves for inserting and properly orienting the optical fibers end-to-end. The top end sections each contain lands or fingers which, when closed, urge the fibers into the correct position within the V-shaped grooves and lock them there by exerting pressure on the protective jackets surrounding the fibers. The center top section has a land or finger which closes directly onto the end optical fibers, forcing correct and precise alignment and locking them in this orientation. A tension or strain relief may be installed over the connector. The connector permits final inspection of the fiber orientation and application of an index matching fluid prior to closing the center segment.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1987Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: E. Patent number: 4480774Abstract: The crossbow carrying case includes opposed based and cover sections having a generally triangular shape and interconnected along one edge to permit movement of the cover section between an open position and a closed position wherein the cover and base sections are in facing relationship and cooperate to define a compartment for receiving an assembled crossbow ready for use. When in the closed position, the base and cover sections are releasably fastened together along the other two edges by a zipper or the like. The crossbow is releasably held in place inside the compartment by a pair of longitudinally spaced tie down straps secured to the inner surface of the base section at locations corresponding to the narrowed hand grip portion of the crossbow stock and the area immediately forward of the forehand grip of the crossbow stock.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1983Date of Patent: November 6, 1984Inventors: James G. Patent number: 4475175Abstract: A secure communication link is provided for transmitting signals between a host computer and at least one authorized terminal. The communication link includes a host modem for modulating and demodulating the signals transmitted between the host computer and the authorized terminal and an access controller. The access controller stores enquiry and reply sequences of bits and is operable to compare incoming signals from the host modem with the stored sequences of bits. Where there is agreement between the signals from the host modem and the stored sequences of bits, the controller establishes the communication link. Where there is no agreement or no reply from the host modem, the controller disconnects the host modem from the link.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1982Date of Patent: October 2, 1984Assignee: Exide Electronics CorporationInventor: James G.
