Abstract: A two-position handle device for use with a wheeled intravenous bag holder having a vertical pole includes a collar slidably positionable upon the vertical pole. A first member extends from the collar, the first member having a tenon extending therefrom, while a second member connects to the first member, the second member having a tenon extending therefrom. A handle extends from the second member, wherein the handle is positionable between a first downwardly extending position and a second horizontally extending position. To lock the handle in the second position, a cylindrical sleeve slidably disposes over both the tenon of the second member and the tenon of the first member, thereby preventing pivotal movement of the second member relative to the first member, and locking the handle in the second horizontally extending position.

Abstract: A positionable handle device for use with a wheelchair comprises a first member attachable to an existing handle of the wheelchair, a second member pivotally connected to the first member and, a locking mechanism to lock the second member in either a first upwardly extending position or a second downwardly extending position. The locking mechanism comprises a first tenon extending from the first member, a second tenon extending from the second member, and a slidable mortise into which the first and second tenons dispose. The mortise contains a first aperture extending therethrough and a second aperture at least partially extending inward from a lower portion of one side containing the second tenon. The mortise is positionable between a lowered and raised position. When in the lowered position, the mortise locks the tenons in place. When in the raised position, the mortise permits the second tenon to pivot.

Abstract: The present invention includes a system of cooperating handles for simultaneously maneuvering a wheelchair and a medical cart. The system comprises a first handle attachable to a wheelchair and a second handle attachable to the medical cart. The first handle has a lower portion and an upper portion, the lower portion adapted to receive a handlebar of the wheelchair. The upper portion of the first handle is vertically oriented. The second handle has a lower portion and an upper portion, with the lower portion being attachable to the medical cart. The upper portion of the second handle is also vertically oriented. The wheelchair and the medical cart are positionable to place the upper portions of the first and second handles proximate to one another so that a user can grasp each upper portion by a single hand to simultaneously maneuver the wheelchair and the medical cart together.

Abstract: A device for adapting a surgical operating table such that the upper torso of the patient can be raised in order to place the patient in a seated position, the device further providing the means of exposing or supporting a side of said patient's upper torso and limbs. The device contains a continuously adjustable positioning mechanism, and corresponding actuator for said mechanism, in a way that a user can rapidly and conveniently put a patient in the desired position, from a supine posture to a fully seated position. Additionally, the device does not render the surgical table permanently modifed, as the process of modification is reversible by means of a simple attachment mechanism. The device uses a back support section hingedly connected to a base frame, this base frame providing the attachment support to the surgical table. Side support panels are either moved out of the way on the patient's operative side, or left in place to provide support to the unaffected side.
