  • Patent number: 10118753
Abstract: A metering valve having an elongate moveable stem arranged for axial movements within a container and defining a discharge passage. A flexible bag for containing a liquid formulation to be dispensed from the metering valve surrounds a lower end of the metering valve. The bag is fillable through a fill passage defined by the valve and from an exterior of the container. A one-way valve, disposed in operable combination with the fill passage, prevents liquid formulation in the bag from escaping to ambient through the fill passage but allows the bag to be filled after the lower end of the valve and the bag are inserted into the container and the container is pressurized with a propellant.

  • Patent number: 7575134
Abstract: A self-sealing nozzle for a liquid dispensing device having a valve and a discharge port, the discharge port including a plug that may be bulbous in shape, the plug being retained by a retainer at the end of the discharge passage leading to the port. An elastomeric seal has an annular inner surface that seals against the plug when liquid is not being dispensed by said valve, but expands and forms a passage around the plug when liquid is being dispensed by said valve.

  • Patent number: 6910606
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve housing defining a metering chamber and an elongated stem. The stem is axially movable with respect to the valve housing for dispensing liquid and is rotatable for adjusting the length of the stroke of a piston to thereby select the volume of liquid dispensed with each actuation of the stem. A sliding float member is fitted around the stem within the chamber and is axially slidable with respect to the stem but is locked for rotation with the stem. The lower surface of the sliding float is locked for axial movement with the piston but is independently rotatable with respect to the piston. A pair of spaced poles extends parallel to the axis of the float and engages vaginations in a surface of the housing to thereby limit the length of the stroke of the piston. The poles of the float and the complementary pairs of vaginations in the housing are angularly spaced a distance of less than 180 degrees.

The lower surface of the sliding float abuts, and floats above the upper surface of the piston, and the lower end of the stem is rotatable within the piston. A spring extends between a prong on the stem and the sliding float for urging the stem axially outward of the container and for urging the piston in a direction which maximizes the volume of the metering chamber such that the spring rotates with the stem and the stem rotates free of the piston.

  • Patent number: 5199616
Abstract: Dispensing apparatus incorporates a pressurized liquid reservoir and associated manually operable dispensing valve and a pressurized gas reservoir and associated manually operable valve respectively connecting the reservoirs to a common spray orifice. The valves are adapted to be simultaneously operated whereby a metered burst of gas from the gas reservoir breaks up a metered burst of liquid from the liquid reservoir. The liquid dispensing valve has a discharge bore through which the liquid is discharged and a check valve such that the pressurized reservoir may be refilled through the discharge bore.

  • Patent number: 5183187
Abstract: In a fluid dispenser a spring biased piston is mounted for reciprocable movement along a stem member which is moved longitudinally to actuate the dispenser. A metering chamber is located between the end of the piston and the end wall of a cylindrical chamber in which the piston is mounted, and axial passageways extending from opposite ends of the stem connect the metering chamber to a discharge location when the stem is in a discharge positon and connect the metering chamber to a fluid reservoir when the stem is in a fill position.

  • Patent number: 5085351
Abstract: A liquid dispensed in adjustable, predetermined quantities from a pressurized reservoir upon each actuation of a metering and dispensing valve incorporated in the dispenser. A flexible sleeve is disposed between the reservoir chamber and a selected one of a plurality of differently sized metering chambers to expel the contents of the selected metering chamber when the metering and dispensing valve is actuated. The metering chambers are carried by a rotatably adjustable member which is mounted to the stem of the metering and dispensing valve.

  • Patent number: 4911692
Abstract: An intravenous fluid dispenser includes two reservoirs, and containing a predetermined quantity of a liquid under pressure and the other containing a predetermined quantity of a material to be mixed with the liquid; a conduit extends between the two reservoirs and a manually operable valve in the conduit is used to controllably connect the reservoirs together to cause the liquid to flow at a high velocity into the second reservoir. An outlet conduit extends from the bottom of the second reservoir for conveying the mixed solution to a patient.

  • Patent number: 4892232
Abstract: A unit dose liquid dispenser includes a resilient metering reservoir disposed within a main reservoir in which a large supply of the liquid is maintained under pressure. Depression of an actuator to a dispensing position connects the metering chamber to the ambient while sealing it from the main reservoir resulting in the collapse of the metering reservoir and expulsion of the contents to the atmosphere at the pressure in the main reservoir.
