  • Patent number: 5165522
Abstract: A collector flight attachment link configured to have increased torsional load bearing ability and for supporting a collector flight on a chain including a plurality of interconnected chain links. The collector flight attachment link comprises an elongated lower link portion adapted to be interconnected with adjacent chain links in the chain. The flight attachment link also comprises a cantilevered collector flight support portion projecting upwardly from the lower link portion and including a paddle plate extending transversely to the link portion and having spaced apart first and second plate sections interconnected at their upper ends by a web section. Stress relief notches are provided between the lower edges of the paddle plate and the lower link portion.

  • Patent number: 5131890
Abstract: A sprocket assembly, particularly adapted for use in wastewater settling tanks, is provided, which assembly is adapted to be supported on a shaft having a longitudinal axis. The sprocket assembly includes a polymeric sleeve adapted to be mounted on the axially extending shaft, the sleeve including a low friction bearing surface formed of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. The sprocket assembly further includes a sprocket wheel adapted to be mounted on the bearing surface of the sleeve for rotation relative to the sleeve about the longitudinal axis of the shaft. Seals are further provided to inhibit the introduction of grit between the sleeve and the sprocket wheel.

  • Patent number: 5080852
Abstract: A method of making a split bearing sleeve having flanges at the opposed ends thereof for mounting a sprocket wheel on an axially extending shaft is disclosed herein. The method includes the steps of providing a mold having axially aligned recessed areas for the flanges and an intermediate area extending between the recessed areas for the flanges, placing a thin strip of polyethylene in the intermediate axially extending area such that the strip extends partially into the recessed flange areas, and pouring heated polyurethane into the mold to fill the recessed areas for the flanges and the intermediate axially extending area to encapsulate the thin strip in the recessed flange areas.

  • Patent number: 4950398
Abstract: A flight attachment is provided for a drive chain comprised of a plurality of overlapping links pivotally connected by pins so that stress loads transmitted through the chain by flight are transferred through the chain pivot pins and not through the chain side bars. The flight attachment comprises a pair of flight brackets, one located on each side of a link of the chain and connected to the chain in cantilever fashion by elongate, laterally extending pivot pins. The flight brackets are constructed and arranged to accept a collector flight securely mounted thereon.

  • Patent number: 4863418
Abstract: A link assembly for a lightweight, non-metallic, conveyor or load transmission chain having significantly greater strength and other performance improvements compared to previous non-metallic chain links is disclosed. Each link assembly includes a pair of identical sidebars each comprised of high-strength filamentary material wound in an elongated loop configuration and fixed in a matrix of hardened resin and a connecting pin having a stiff reinforced composite core and a surrounding sleeve of low friction wear resistant material.

  • Patent number: 4663042
Abstract: A hollow, polymeric sludge collector flight is provided having a sigma-shaped cross-section, including a wedge-shaped transverse indentation on its forward face, a vertically extending wear lip on its scraping edge, and a transverse gap on its rear face. The gap allows free circulation of liquid within the non-buoyant flight. The indentation structurally stiffens the mid-span section of the flight. Where additional stiffness is required, filler blocks may be placed between mounting blocks.

  • Patent number: 4631974
Abstract: A polymeric split sprocket wheel is provided having two mating portions that, when joined, form a split line at the junction of those portions, two side faces, a toothed outer rim and a central axial bore, and which is designed to be mounted on a relatively immobile yet rotatable keyed shaft, being secured thereon by means of a tripartite apparatus comprised of a captive slotted keyway molded into the central axial bore of the wheel, a circular band clamp capable of exerting a uniform degree of force all around the axial hub, and a plurality of wedge dog assemblies which join the wheel together along the split line by means of a plurality of wedge dog clamps which straddle the split line, are inserted into tapered receptacles, and are fixed to the wheel by fastening means.
