Abstract: A method and device for detecting explosive compounds in an air sample in which the air sample is filtered with activated carbon treated with a weakly basic solution, after which the air sample is divided into two parts, with one part being heated at lower temperatures to decompose non-explosive nitrogenous compounds and the second part being heated at higher temperatures to decompose explosive nitrogenous compounds. Nitrogen dioxide is measured in both portions of the air sample with a spectrographic detector, and the presence or absence of explosive nitrogenous compounds in the air sample is determined.

Abstract: A method for quantifying nitrogen-containing species from an atmospheric sample includes introducing the atmospheric sample into an NO2-analyzer to obtain a first measurement; subjecting the atmospheric sample to thermal decomposition followed by introducing the atmospheric sample into the NO2-analyzer to obtain a second measurement; subjecting the atmospheric sample to ozone titration and thermal decomposition followed by introducing the atmospheric sample into the NO2-analyzer to obtain a third measurement; subjecting the atmospheric sample to excess ozone followed by introducing the atmospheric sample into the NO2-analyzer to obtain a fourth measurement; and subjecting the atmospheric sample to a catalyst at an elevated temperature followed by introducing the atmospheric sample into the NO2-analyzer to obtain a fifth measurement.

Abstract: Compositions and methods are provided for using natural waxes or wax sub-fractions to maintain healthy blood lipid profiles, illustratively by lowering total cholesterol, lowering LDL-cholesterol, raising HDL cholesterol, and/or lowering triglyceride levels. Compositions and methods are also provided to treat symptoms of metabolic syndrome, including weight gain.

Abstract: This application relates to a composition and method for treating or preventing inflammation. One embodiment of the composition comprises a dried powdered grape pomace. Further one embodiment of the methods of treating inflammation involves administering a muscadine grape product to an animal, and wherein the muscadine grape product is included in the diet or feed of the animal as an additive or supplement.
