  • Publication number: 20100296304
Abstract: A combination for a vehicle is set forth herein. The combination includes a compartment positioned in the vehicle. The compartment is defined by a plurality of surfaces generally facing one another to define an interior volume. The compartment is thereby operable to hold a stowable item. A first surface of the plurality of surfaces is substantially fixed relative to the vehicle and a second surface of the plurality of surfaces is movable relative to the first surface. The combination also includes at least one self-contained light mounted on the second surface. The at least one self-contained light includes at least one light emitting structure and at least one battery.

  • Publication number: 20090160208
Abstract: A visor support is disclosed with a support arm and a rotation control member. The support arm is adapted to support a visor body and has a first end adapted to be mounted in a vehicle. The support arm has a tapered portion near a second end of the support arm and a ring proximate to the tapered portion. The rotation control member has at least one wall with at least one aperture therein. The rotation control member has a tapered receptacle aligned with the at least one aperture. The rotation control member is rotatable about a linear axis of the support arm such that the tapered portion and the tapered receptacle cooperate to prevent rotation of the support arm absent an external force. The ring cooperates with the rotation control block to at least retain the support arm within the rotation control member.

  • Patent number: 7534018
Abstract: A visor vanity for use in a vehicle includes a vanity mirror, a light source for providing illumination to the user of the mirror or for other purposes, an energy source independent of the vehicle's electrical system for energizing the light source, a switch for causing light source to be energized by the independent power source or de-energized, and a timer for de-energizing the light source after a certain time period has passed so as to minimize depletion of the independent energy source. The light source may comprise one or more LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20090066109
Abstract: A sun visor vanity assembly is provided including a visor element and a clamshell element positioned within. A power wire harness is mounted on the clamshell element as well as a vanity frame. A conductive hinge element is mounted between the vanity frame and the external surface and includes a spring body, at least one direct connect arm electrically engaging the power harness, and a flexible spring door arm. A vanity door includes a hinge engagement element rotatably engaging the flexible spring door arm and is movable between a door open position and a door closed position. A vanity light element is mounted into the vanity door body and is in electrical communication with the flexible spring door arm when in the door open position.

  • Patent number: 6824188
Abstract: A sun visor assembly is provided that includes a foundation having a pair of foundation halves. An upholstery cover extends over each of the foundation halves to form an outer of the sun visor. A vanity mirror brow is disposed over one of the foundation halves under the cover, such that a portion of the cover is raised off of the foundation. A vanity mirror assembly is disposed over the cover assembly adjacent the vanity mirror brow. The addition of the vanity mirror brow between the foundation and the cover gives the perception that at least a portion of the vanity mirror assembly is attractively recessed into the foundation.
