Patent number: 8063184Abstract: The present invention provides novel cleavage agents and polymerases for the cleavage and modification of nucleic acid. The cleavage agents and polymerases find use, for example, for the detection and characterization of nucleic acid sequences and variations in nucleic acid sequences. In some embodiments, the 5? nuclease activity of a variety of enzymes is used to cleave a target-dependent cleavage structure, thereby indicating the presence of specific nucleic acid sequences or specific variations thereof.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2010Date of Patent: November 22, 2011Assignee: Third Wave Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Hatim Allawi, Brad T. Patent number: 7832143Abstract: A high-throughput method is provided for analyzing individual seeds in a population of seeds. The method generally includes removing a tissue sample from at least one or more seeds in the population of seeds while preserving germination viability of the at least one or more seeds from which the tissue sample is taken, depositing the tissue sample into an individual compartment of a sample tray, contacting the tissue sample with an extraction buffer to remove DNA from the sample, and analyzing the extracted DNA for the presence or absence of a transgene of interest. The extraction buffer may be present in the individual compartment of the sample tray before the tissue sample is deposited into the individual compartment.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2009Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignee: Monsanto Technology LLCInventors: Kevin L. Deppermann, Michael W. Petersen, Allen T. Christian, James J. Schaefer, Chad Allen Stendal
