Abstract: A shoe sole construction especially designed for but not limited to walking shoes, comprising a sole having a midsole and two substantially U-shaped outer sole sections. One outer sole section is secured to the peripheral portion of the midsole in the rear portion and the second outer sole is secured to the peripheral portion of the midsole in the front portion leaving exposed the entirety of the midsole between the two U-shaped outer sole sections. An arch extension extends integrally from the middle portion of the midsole in the area below the arch of the wearer. The arch extension extends below the front and rear sections of the midsole and below the plane of the outer sole sections. The arch extension may further include an enlarged region adjacent the peripheral portion of the medial side of the shoe.
