Patent number: 11969214Abstract: Introduced here are retinal cameras having one or more optical components whose position can be modified so that the left and right eyes can be imaged during a single imaging operation. Collectively, the optical component(s) may be referred to as an “optical assembly.” An optical assembly can include the objective lens, lens tube, and other optical components such as mirror(s), light source(s), capturing medium(s), etc. An optical assembly of a retinal camera may be movable between a first position and a second position along an arcuate path. By moving the optical assembly between the first and second positions along the arcuate path, the retinal camera can align the lens tube with the left and right eyes of an individual while clearing her nose. Thus, the retinal camera may generate images of the left and right eyes during an imaging procedure without requiring that the individual move her head.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2020Date of Patent: April 30, 2024Assignee: Verily Life Sciences LLCInventors: James K. Publication number: 20070179792Abstract: A system and method for providing a service to promoters, including venues and advertising sponsors, who wish to provide promotions. The service includes making promoter promotions accessible by the mobile phones of members associated with an organization. Typically a promotion and member are matched based on the member's geographical position, as determined automatically by a position sensor in their mobile phone, and by the member's traits and behaviors. By accepting a promotion, a member receives reward points which can be used to obtain goods and services. In addition to accessing promotions, members have mobile access to real-time information about the venues, such as the demographics of venue attendees and media posted by attendees concerning venue characteristics. Using the system, members can determine before going to a venue, such as a nightclub or bar, which venue has their preferred attendee demographic, atmosphere, music, cover charge, drink specials, friends, etc.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Inventor: James Kramer

Publication number: 20060115348Abstract: A man-machine! interface is disclosed which provides force, texture, pressure and temperature information to sensing body parts. The interface is comprised of a force-generating device (900) that produces a force which is transmitted to a force-applying device (902) via force-transmitting means (908). The force-applying device applies the generated force to a sensing body part A force sensor (909) associated with the force-applying device measures the actual force applied to the sensing body part, while angle sensors (9171 measure the angles of relevant joint body parts. A computing device (911) uses the joint body part position information to determine a desired force value to be applied to the sensing body part. The computing device combines the joint body part position information with the force sensor information to calculate the force command which is sent to the force-generating device.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2005Publication date: June 1, 2006Inventor: James Kramer
