  • Patent number: 4664699
Abstract: Herbicide combinations with improved residual activity comprising (a) compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, haloalkyl, benzyl and substituted benzyl, phenethyl, pyridylmethyl, cycloalkyl having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and haloalkenyl having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each independently selected from the group consisting of C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkenyl, and C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl, provided further that R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 can join with the nitrogen to which they are attached to form a 5 to 6 carbon ring structure, and (b) an herbicidally effective amount of a chloroacetanilide having the formula ##STR2## in which R.sub.4 is a straight or branched chain lower alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R.sub.5 is a straight or branched chain lower alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and R.sub.6 is ##STR3## where R.sub.

  • Patent number: 4066439
Abstract: Wild oats are killed over a substantial period of growth from two-leaf through four-leaf stages by applying post-emergently to the oats plants an effective amount of a combination of one part of barban with from about two to five parts, preferably three to four parts of CIPC, a herbicide which is normally applied pre-emergently.

  • Patent number: 4008069
Abstract: Certain noxious weeds, particularly yellow foxtail (Setaria glanca) and beggarweed (Desmodium torguosum) are combated in a number of crops by preemergent application of a synergistic combination of preferably about two parts by weight of N-benzyl-N-isopropylpivalamide with one part by weight of 2-cyclopropanecarboxamide-5-(2-chloro-1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole . Synergistic interaction of the two compounds is graphically illustrated by isobole charts of application rates which produce severe injury to specific weeds.
