  • Patent number: 6690984
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for assembly integration. A method of assembling a product based on a received order includes receiving an order for a product having a desired configuration. A parts list is generated corresponding to the desired configuration and an assembly method is applied to the parts list to derive an assembly script. The assembly script is transferred to a plurality of assembly station wherein the assembly script provides a custom instruction to the assembly stations. Thus, the product corresponding to the order may be produced having the desired configuration.

  • Publication number: 20030158926
Abstract: A system for generating and loading software onto hard disk drives, particularly replacement hard disk drives without having to create a separate master disk for each unique software configuration, includes a storage assembly for storing at least one of a predefined drive image and a software component. An image builder is coupled to the storage assembly within the network for building a drive image for the hard disk drive using at least one of the predefined drive image and the software component. The created drive image is then stored to the storage assembly and downloaded to the hard disk drive via the network.

  • Publication number: 20020108033
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing a quicker boot for computer systems is provided. The hibernation state file content of a similar computer system is captured and sent to a unit being manufactured. As a result, the unit being manufactured may operate according to the hibernation state. When the unit is operating in such a fashion, the time required for a reboot is reduced which may provide for more efficient software installation for build to order computer systems.

  • Patent number: 6427208
Abstract: Method and apparatus for monitoring the installation of a computer hardware or software component so as to be able to reconstruct the installation at a later time without requiring a re-installation by hand. The data command stream of an installation and any changes made to the files of the computer, including the creation or deletion of files, are monitored and recorded.

  • Patent number: 6080207
Abstract: A computerized system and a method for generating a custom software configuration for a hard drive of a computer system according to desired software configuration defined by a purchasing customer. The computerized system and method utilizes an image builder for creating a disk image of the desired software configuration and transferring the image to a storage device. The storage device is connected to an image server that transfers the disk image directly to the hard drive during a manufacturing and assembly process of the computer system. Once the computer system is assembled, the image server broadcasts the disk image to the computer system via a wired or wireless connection.
