Publication number: 20240108399Abstract: An apparatus including a body, a shaft assembly extending distally from the body, and an end effector configured to grasp and transmit RF energy to the tissue. The end effector includes a first jaw having a first tissue grasping feature and a second jaw. The second jaw is pivotably coupled to the first jaw between an open position, a partially closed position, and a closed position. The second jaw includes a proximal taper having a proximal electrode surface, a distal taper including a distal electrode surface, and a juncture between the proximal and distal electrode surface. The juncture is spaced further from the first tissue grasping feature compared to the proximal and distal end while the second jaw is in the partially closed position. The proximal and distal electrode surface deform to define a gap with the first tissue grasping feature while in the closed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Inventors: James M. Systems, methods, and graphical user interfaces for adding effects in augmented reality environments
Patent number: 11941764Abstract: A computer system displays a representation of a field of view of the one or more cameras, including a representation of a portion of a three-dimensional physical environment that is in the field of view of the one or more cameras. The computer system receives a request to add a first virtual effect to the displayed representation of the field of view of the one or more cameras. In response to receiving the request to add the first virtual effect to the displayed representation of the field of view of the one or more cameras and in accordance with a determination that the first virtual effect requires a scan of the physical environment, the computer system initiates a scan of the physical environment to detect one or more features of the physical environment and displays a user interface that indicates a progress of the scan of the physical environment.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2022Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Andrew L. Publication number: 20240082288Abstract: A method of altering the targeting and/or cellular uptake efficiency of an adeno-associated virus (AAV) viral vector having a capsid containing an AAV9 cell surface binding domain is described. The method involves modifying a clade F cell surface receptor which comprises a glycan having a terminal sialic acid residue and a penultimate ?-galactose residue. The modification may involve retargeting the vector by temporarily functionally ablate AAV9 binding in a subset of cells, thereby redirecting the vector to another subset of cells. Alternatively, the modification may involve increasing cellular update efficiency by treating the cells with a neuraminidase to expose cell surface ?-galactose. Also provided are compositions containing the AAV9 vector and a neuraminidase. Also provided is a method for purifying AAV9 using ?-galactose linked to solid support.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: James M. Wilson, Christie L. Bell, Luc H. Vandenberghe

Publication number: 20140325800Abstract: A single rope tie down device has a single rope with an internal passageway and two S-hooks. The single rope has a first end and a second end. The internal passageway is proximate to the first end of the rope. The first S-hook is attached to the first end of the single rope. The second S-hook is freely moveable along the single rope between the internal passageway and the second end of the rope. The second end of the rope passes through the eyelet of the first S-hook and then passes through the internal passageway of the single rope forming a closed, adjustable length loop in the single rope. The second S-hook is moveable along the single rope within the loop. The loop can be tightened or loosened to secure the S-hooks to an item below the single rope tie down device to a carrier.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2013Publication date: November 6, 2014Inventors: James L. Wilson, Don Hitt, Randy Jack

Patent number: 5377756Abstract: A method for recovering connate fluids (e.g. oil) from a low permeability subterranean reservoir (e.g. diatomite) through a single wellbore. Upper and lower intervals are fractured from the wellbore that the fractured intervals only partially overlap, thereby leaving a partial, natural barrier formed of random-spaced, low permeable areas along the interface between the fractured intervals. This partial barrier improves the sweep efficiency of a drive fluid (e.g. water) which is injected into the lower fractured interval by forcing it to spread outward into the reservoir before it is flows through the upper fractured interval. The drive fluid is injected at approximately the same rate as that at which the fluids are produced so that displacement of oil occurs primarily due to imbibition.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1993Date of Patent: January 3, 1995Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Paul S. Patent number: 4676954Abstract: A forced air furnace air freshener attached to a cold air return duct thereof. A pair of vertically spaced openings are provided in a wall of the duct. A basket has its lid mounted on the outside of such wall, which lid carries a scent block. The hinged main portion of the gasket is normally closed so that air flowing through the cold air duct is by-passed through said openings and is scented by said scent block.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1986Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Inventor: James L. Patent number: 4636239Abstract: A fluidic support device is described that counteracts the gravitational bending moment present in a substrate tube during a modified chemical vapor deposition preform fabrication process. Hence, use of this device results in the production of a straight optical fiber preform. The device includes a hemicylindrical annulus section in close proximity to the portion of the substrate tube to be supported, and uses flowing fluid to offset gravity and to center the substrate tube. Gaseous use of the device increases and stabilizes the thermophoretic force without contact by either solid or liquid materials, avoiding any reduction in strength of the finished fiber.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1985Date of Patent: January 13, 1987Assignee: GTE Laboratories IncorporatedInventors: James L. Wilson, Robert C. Folweiler

Patent number: 4616314Abstract: A data receiver is described that includes a microcomputer that is coupled to a self-clocking asynchronous data bus. The data bus includes three signal lines TDATA, CDATA and RDATA. Bits of a data block are detected by a first exclusive-OR gate that is coupled to the TDATA and CDATA lines. An interrupt control signal and the output of the first exclusive-OR gate are coupled to a second exclusive-OR gate that generates an interrupt signal. The interrupt signal is coupled to the interrupt input of the receiving microcomputer. The receiving microcomputer is interrupted in response to a data bit and then changes the binary state of the interrupt control signal for producing an interrupt for the idle state between data bits. Upon being interrupted by the idle state between data bits, the receiving microcomputer changes the binary state of the interrupt control signal for producing an interrupt for the next data bit and also applies a bit of return data to the RDATA line.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1983Date of Patent: October 7, 1986Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: James L.
