  • Publication number: 20230272863
Abstract: A multi-tubing pinch valve assembly including a receiving space defined between a pinch protrusion and tubing contact body. The multi-tubing pinch valve assembly is moveable between a retracted state and an extended state. In the extended state, multiple tubes disposed in the receiving space are pinched, restricting flow therethrough. In the retracted state, multiple tubes are capable of being loaded into and/or out of the receiving space.

  • Patent number: 7556611
Abstract: An extracorporeal blood processing system having a centrifugal rotor, a control system, a plurality of peristaltic pumps, and a removable tubing circuit wherein blood components can be processed. A pump-balancing process, implemented by the control system, causes selected pumps to fill and empty a reservoir in the tubing circuit. Ratios of displaced volume per pump revolution or other pumping action can be used by the control system to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the donation process. The pump-balancing process may be performed during priming or set-up of the blood processing system or during an actual donation.

  • Publication number: 20070209708
Abstract: A bag assembly for the separation of a composite liquid into at least two components, comprises a set of bags and a bag-assembling device for assembling the set of bags. The set of bags comprises a separation bag connected by a product tube to at least one product bag. The bag-assembling device comprises a support member; a mounting means, connected to the support member, for removably mounting the bag-assembling device in a rotor of a centrifuge having a central cavity for containing the product bag; and a first securing means connected to the support member for releasably securing the product bag to the support member. The mounting means and the first securing means are so arranged that the product bag occupies a determined position in the central cavity of a rotor when the bag-assembling device in mounted therein.

  • Publication number: 20050051466
Abstract: The invention relates generally to methods of monitoring and controlling the processing of blood and blood samples, particularly the separation of blood and blood samples into its components. In one aspect, the invention relates to optical methods, devices and device components for measuring two-dimensional distributions of transmitted light intensities, scattered light intensities or both from a separation chamber of a density centrifuge. In embodiment, two-dimensional distributions of transmitted light intensities, scattered light intensities or both measured by the methods of the present invention comprise images of a separation chamber or component thereof, such as an optical cell of a separation chamber. In another aspect, the present invention relates to multifunctional monitoring and control systems for blood processing, particularly blood processing via density centrifugation.
