  • Patent number: 10691094
Abstract: A technique for operating a power subsystem includes determining a respective power status of power devices in the power subsystem. The power devices include a first power device and a second power device that derives power from the first power device. Respective visual indicators of the first and second power devices are controlled to uniquely indicate which of the first and second power devices have an associated fault based on the respective power status of the power devices.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 12, 2018
Date of Patent: June 23, 2020
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation

  • Patent number: 10651642
Abstract: A technique for monitoring a passive element in a system includes determining, by a monitor, power supplied by a power supply coupled to the passive element and power consumed by a load coupled to the passive element. The monitor then determines power dissipated by the passive element based on the power supplied by the power supply and the power consumed by the load. The monitor initiates shut down of the power supply when the power dissipated by the passive element exceeds a threshold.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5083087
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting breaks in wire while the wire is being scribed wherein the apparatus measures changes, in real time, in the scribing system's electrical characteristics. These characteristics can be changes in phase shift and capacitance variations caused by breaks in the wire as the wire is scribed onto a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4722331
Abstract: An orthopaedic tool guide apparatus, including a tool member, a probe and, extending therebetween, a connecting structure, is arranged to enable adjustment of the positional relationship of the tool member to the probe over a range of positions in which the axis of the tool member remains aligned with the end of the probe. The connecting structure includes first and second arms hinged together at respective ends, the tool member connected to the first the arm and the probe being connected to the second the arm at positions spaced from the axis of the hinge, whereby one of the arms can be rotated relative to the other the arm through a series of different planes to enable the apparatus to be manuvered relative to the body. The axes of the hinge and the tool member are arranged to intersect at a predetermined target point, and the end of the probe is disposed at the target point.
