  • Publication number: 20140198117
Abstract: In an embodiment, a host computing device includes an internal display and also includes a connector to connect to an external display. A cable is provided to connect to the connector and to connect to the external display. The cable includes video processing capabilities. For example, the cable may include a memory configured to store a frame buffer. The frame buffer may store a frame of video data for further processing by the video processing device in the cable. The video processing device may manipulate the frame in a variety of ways, e.g. scaling, rotating, gamma correction, dither correction, etc.

  • Publication number: 20140070774
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for charging a host device from a charging source through an accessory are described. Upon detecting an input power signal from the charging source, an accessory may send an identification request to the host device and authenticate the host device based on the identification information received from the host device. Upon authenticating the host device, the accessory may enable a power path between the charging source and the host device to supply a charging current to charge the host device.

  • Publication number: 20130301635
Abstract: A system for verifying clock synchronization between master and slave network equipment is provided. The master includes a transmitter, first control logic, and a first processor. The slave includes a receiver, second control logic, and a second processor. The transmitter may send synchronization packets to the receiver. When a synchronization packet is sent, the first control logic forwards a first timestamp sample to the first processor. In response to receiving a synchronization packet, the receiver may generate a second timestamp sample that is forwarded to the second processor. When a number of first timestamp samples are collected at the first processor, the transmitter may send a timestamp packet to the receiver. In response to receiving the timestamp packet, the receiver may compare the first and second timestamp samples in an effort to synchronize a slave reference clock in the slave to a master reference clock in the master.

  • Patent number: 8498087
Abstract: Connectors for cables such as a 30-pin connector are provided. The connectors may have thermal protection circuits and may carry a power supply voltage and a ground voltage. The thermal protection circuits may disable the power supply voltage when the temperature of the connector exceeds a threshold value. The thermal protection circuits may disable the power supply voltage when liquid is detected in the connector. The thermal protection circuits may disable the power supply voltage permanently or temporarily. In one example, when a cable is reset, the thermal protection circuits may use a record of previous fault events and measurements from thermal and liquid sensors to determine whether to enable or disable the power supply voltage.
