  • Patent number: 9827137
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to devices that aid a user in ceasing bruxism. The devices may be placed between a user's teeth, such as during sleep, and alert the user when the user clenches his/her teeth. In an aspect, a device includes a housing containing a battery power source, a vibration device, and an electrical contact mechanism having a movable element which closes a circuit to actuate the vibration device. A disk-shaped portion adapted to be emplaced in a person's mouth between a cheek and adjacent teeth is disposed around the housing. A resilient bite portion extends from the housing and is adapted to be emplaced between upper and lower teeth. A compressible element is disposed in the bite portion and causes the movable element of the electrical contact to close to actuate the vibration device in response to compression of the bite portion.

  • Patent number: 9583088
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to training FIR filter coefficients by deconvolving a first input signal and a second input signal in the frequency domain, both of the signals being generated in response to an undetermined broadband excitation applied to an acoustic body instrument, until a fidelity of the second signal convolved with the trained coefficients meets predetermined fidelity criteria relative to the first signal. In an illustrative example, a musical instrument pickup signal and a microphone signal from the musical instrument may be sampled, segmented, and transformed to the frequency domain. FIR filter coefficients may be, for example, trained by block deconvolution in the frequency domain of the microphone signal and the pickup signal. In various examples, the trained FIR filter coefficients may adapt the pickup signal to mimic microphone performance, including full-body acoustic content.

  • Publication number: 20160262812
Abstract: An implantable fixation device for rejoining opposed portions of a separated bone. The device including two corresponding plates that are configured to be aligned and coupled to a bone, such as a sternum, pre-resection of the bone or prior to cutting/separating the bone. The placement of the corresponding plates provides a gap between the edges of the plates that face one another allowing for and guiding a cutting tool for separating the bone. After the bone has been cut and the desired surgical procedure performed, the plates also assist in realigning and fixation of the bone portions. At least one plate includes a ratchet mechanism that is configured to tighten a locking element and draw the two plates together and into alignment with one another.

  • Patent number: 9435162
Abstract: A method for maintaining pressure in a wellbore during drilling operations is disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing fluid from a reservoir through a drill string, circulating the fluid from the drill string to an annulus between the drill string and the wellbore, isolating pressure in the annulus, measuring pressure in the annulus, calculating a set point backpressure, applying back pressure to the annulus based on the set point back pressure, diverting fluid from the annulus to a controllable choke, controllably bleeding pressurized fluid from the annulus, separating solids from the fluid, and directing the fluid to the reservoir. An apparatus for maintaining pressure in a wellbore during drilling operations that includes an adjustable choke for controllably bleeding off pressurized fluid from the wellbore annulus. A backpressure pump for applying a set point backpressure, and a processor for controlling the adjustable choke and backpressure pump are also disclosed.
