Patent number: 6539955Abstract: A dishwasher includes a housing having a washing chamber and a door for gaining access to the washing chamber. A washing nozzle is provided in the washing chamber for directing a fluid stream against dishes held in the washing chamber. A circulation pump circulates fluid under pressure through the washing nozzle. A supply line delivers fluid to the circulation pump while a drain line discharges fluid from the washing chamber. Additionally the dishwasher includes an acoustical insulation blanket of thermoplastic material. That blanket extends around the washing chamber and the circulation pump and is precisely cut to fit snugly around the fluid supply line and the drain line so as to eliminate gaps therebetween and the acoustical leaks associated therewith. A method is also disclosed for enclosing the noise-generating components of the dishwasher in an acoustical insulation blanket of thermoplastic material.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2000Date of Patent: April 1, 2003Assignee: Owens Corning Fiberglas Technology, Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey Allan Tilton, Phil J. Johnson, Gary James Newman, Kurt G. Melia

Patent number: 6043937Abstract: A head up display system having a diffusing image plane or diffuser. The light output of a relatively small image source is imaged on the diffuser by way of imaging optics. A mirror is used to image light from the diffuser onto a windshield and correct for distortion caused by the windshield. The diffuser is advantageously used when a large field-of-view is desired, or sun load characteristics need to be addressed. The diffuser may be flat or curved in order to optimize the system for different applications. The magnification of the mirror may be made relatively low, and the solar energy density that is made incident on the image source is reduced, providing for a low cost, high performance, color head up display system.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1999Date of Patent: March 28, 2000Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark William Hudson, Ning Wu, Doyle Joseph Groves, Timothy James Newman, Dale James Igram, Jianhua Li, Gerald Jay Witt, Mark Anthony Koors, Mark Robert Vincen

Patent number: 6024340Abstract: A valve assembly includes a flexible sheet actuator in which two piezo sheets are stacked and actuated in opposite senses to form a bending assembly. The inner faces of the first and second sheets of piezoelectric material are laminated to respective conductive lead paths on opposite sides of a two-sided flex circuit, and the outer faces of the sheets of material are each covered by and electrically contacted to another flex circuit to produce a totally enclosed flat bender. At least a portion of the flex circuits extend away from the bender to provide a flexible and robust conductive lead-in thereto. The electrical connection is a flat ribbon-like strip of lesser thickness than the bender, and may pass hermetically between a gasketed or sealed face and cover plate of the valve.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1996Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: Active Control Experts, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth B. Patent number: 5684945Abstract: A library of performance monitor recordings is maintained according to pathologies. The library is indexed to provide a facility to diagnosis poorly performing data processing systems, by capturing performance statistics and comparing these statistics against known problematic statistics. Remote diagnosis can easily be provided by a user capturing a performance session, saving to a file, and transferring the file to a central facility for comparison against its pathological libraries.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1996Date of Patent: November 4, 1997Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: James Newman Chen, Joseph Clinton Ross

Patent number: 5038776Abstract: Head harness form gas mask consists of several pieces of biaxially stretchable elastic fabric stitched together to provide a concave configuration in the relaxed state. The harness is shaped and sized to fit a range of normal human heads by stretching over the back and top of the head. The forward edge of the harness has a number of tongues of the elastic fabric that attach to a gas mask. The preferred material for the harness is a 280 denier bare spandex power net fabric that has a flat load versus elongation curve. A gas mask fitted with the harness applies a uniform pressure within the comfort range on the face of the wearer without significant adjustment of the harness, despite wide ranges in the head size and configuration of the wearer.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1989Date of Patent: August 13, 1991Assignee: Her Majesty the Queen in right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of National Defence of Her Majesty's Canadian GovernmentInventors: Brian H. Patent number: 4475248Abstract: A ballistic helmet for use by bomb disposal personnel which includes a covering of soft ballistic nylon over a rigid polycarbonate shell. The shell is lined with semi-shock attenuating foam and is designed to cover the entire head. A transparent visor in the front of the helmet can easily be removed by the wearer and a blower assembly provides fresh air inside the helmet to eliminate fogging of the visor. The assembly incorporates an integral communication headset and microphone. Stability of the complete unit on the wearer's head is accomplished by a double-strap retention system.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1982Date of Patent: October 9, 1984Assignee: Canadian Patents & Development LimitedInventors: Richard L'Abbe, Andre M.
