  • Publication number: 20180028666
Abstract: Compositions and methods for treating disordered tissues, such as caused by pathogens and/or by toxins. The treatment compositions include an anti-infective active agent, a liquid carrier, and benzocaine in an amount so that the treatment composition penetrates more quickly into disordered tissue compared to the treatment composition in the absence of the benzocaine. In addition, the benzocaine can increase residence time of the anti-infective active in the treatment area. The preferred anti-infective active agent can be an organohalide, such as a quaternary ammonium halide compound, an example of which is benzalkonium chloride. The treatment compositions and methods may employ the use of an applicator adapted for use in promoting penetration of the treatment composition and/or agitation of the disordered tissue to further enhance penetration.

  • Patent number: 9495594
Abstract: A methodology for detecting image anomalies in a target area for classifying objects therein, in which at least two images of the target area are obtained from a sensor representing different polarization components. The methodology can be used to classify and/or discriminate manmade objects from natural objects in a target area, for example. A data cube is constructed from the at least two images with the at least two images being aligned, such as on a pixel-wise basis. A processor computes the global covariance of the data cube and thereafter locates a test window over a portion of the data cube. The local covariance of the contents of the test window is computed and objects are classified within the test window when an image anomaly is detected in the test window. For example, an image anomaly may be determined when a matrix determinant ratio of the local covariance and the global covariance exceeds a probability ratio threshold. The window can then be moved, e.g.

  • Patent number: 5542313
Abstract: A Dual Radius Geometry Accelerator Control System is provided in which the throttle valve is made to open slowly during the off-idle range of operation then progressively faster during the mid-range operation until a maximum system actuation rate is reached. The throttle valve is then made to open at a gradually decreasing actuation rate until a local minimum actuation rate is reached at the point during the full throttle range of operation that downshifting occurs. Thereafter, the throttle valve is made to open at a substantially linear actuation rate as the control system approaches wide-open throttle.

  • Patent number: 4985271
Abstract: The invention is a method for treating coffee beans to make a better-tasting and improved aroma coffee. Green coffee beans are first partially roasted to a Hunter a-color between about 3 and about 9, under roasting conditions sufficient to increase the Hunter a-color of the beans by at least about 1.5 a-color units during the partial roasting step. The partially roasted beans are then treated with either an alkaline solution comprising water and a foodgrade base, or a coffee bean extract solution comprising water and from about 1% to about 12% coffee solids. Preferably, the partially roasted beans are treated by soaking them in the solution at a temperature between about 65.degree. F. (18.degree. C.) and about 120.degree. F. (49.degree. C.) for a time between about 2 hours and about 24 hours.

  • Patent number: 4560047
Abstract: An electrical solenoid operates a three-way valve having a vent port, a port connected to a source of high pressure hydraulic fluid and a port connection to a pilot valve. A check valve supplied from a source of low pressure hydraulic fluid is connected to the cylinder of a clutch or servo of an automatic transmission when a pilot valve opens this communication upon energizing the solenoid coil. The clutch cylinder is depressurized through the pilot valve to the vent port of the solenoid-operated valve.
