  • Publication number: 20030177317
Abstract: A snoop filter in a multi-processor system maintains a plurality of entries, each representing a cache line that may be owned by one or more nodes. When replacement of one of the entries is required, the snoop filter selects for replacement the entry representing the cache line or lines owned by the fewest nodes, as determined from a presence vector in each of the entries. A temporal or other type of algorithm is used to refine the selection if more than one cache line is owned by the fewest number of nodes.

  • Publication number: 20030157024
Abstract: A kit and method for causing tissue death within a tissue site is disclosed. The kit includes a media with a light activated drug activatable upon exposure to a particular level of ultrasound energy. The kit also includes a catheter with a lumen coupled with a media delivery port through which the light activated drug can be locally delivered to the tissue site. The ultrasound transducer is configured to transmit the level of ultrasound energy which activates the light activated drug with sufficient power that the ultrasound energy can penetrate the tissue site.

  • Publication number: 20030038633
Abstract: A uniform-field resonator includes a central cavity section having a cross-section which is set to the cutoff frequency for a particular microwave propagation mode and a pair of end sections which enclose the cavity to form a resonator in which the field is substantially uniform along the entire length of the central cavity—regardless of its length. A number of end section design strategies and resulting structures are described for supporting the uniform-field mode of operation in the central cavity section.

  • Publication number: 20030018857
Abstract: In general, the PBVT structure provides an effective method of filtering a stream of hardware generated prefetches by eliminating prefetch addresses that have proven to be inaccurate in the past. When compared to a design that uses a PFB of equal number of entries, the PBVT along with a small PFB provides virtually equivalent prefetch accuracy and miss rate reduction while using much less hardware area (97% less data storage space for a 1024-entry PFB case).

  • Patent number: 6425426
Abstract: The invention relates to a pneumatic tire wherein the crown has a ply comprised of substantially circumferentially oriented cords which are spirally wound. The winding pitch p of said cords is greater than 2.5 times the cord diameter &PHgr;. The tread compound is applied directly on said cords. This arrangement facilitates tire fabrication and assures good adherence between the tread compound and the rest of the crown of the tire.

  • Patent number: 6210356
Abstract: A catheter is disclosed. The catheter includes an elongated body with an exterior surface and an ultrasound transducer with a longitudinal length. A support member supports the ultrasound transducer at the exterior surface of the elongated body and defines a chamber adjacent to the exterior surface of the elongated body. The chamber reduces transmission of ultrasound energy from the ultrasound transducer into the elongated body along the longitudinal length of the ultrasound transducer.

  • Patent number: 6101015
Abstract: A variable-coupling quasioptical electron paramagnetic resonance apparatus. In one embodiment, the variable-coupling quasioptical electron paramagnetic resonance apparatus includes a variable coupling quasioptical resonance cavity constructed from two back-to-back Fabry-Perot interferometers. One Fabry-Perot interferometer is formed from two partially reflecting mirrors. The second Fabry-Perot interferometer is an interferometer formed from one of the partially reflecting mirrors and a back mirror. A sample to be studied is placed within the cavity adjacent the partially reflecting mirrors and between one of the partially reflecting mirrors and the back mirror. The relative spacing of the partially reflecting mirrors and the back mirror is adjustable. With this arrangement, the interferometer can be made to act as a single mirror with variable reflectivity, thereby permitting incident radiation reaching the sample to be varied precisely and continuously.

  • Patent number: 5671644
Abstract: The invention provides an open-ended ratcheting wrench for a hex head fastener. The wrench includes a jaw having an inner surface defining an opening for receiving the fastener. The inner surface includes arcuate heel and nose surfaces that are configured to cause the jaw to ratchet when it is rotated in one direction and that drive the fastener when the jaw is rotated in the opposite direction. The inner surface also includes tapered surfaces that provide undercut areas to protect the corners on the fastener when torque is applied to the fastener. This reduces wear at the corners. The wrench also includes a manually operable handle for rotating the jaw.
