Abstract: An application executed on a device reads a portion of a memory during one of an initialization operation and a regular read operation. The application may trigger a preventative read operation during at least one regular read operation. During the preventative read operation the application selects at least one block and at least one page for the preventative read operation. The application determines a cadence for the preventative read operation. The application obtains an error correction code (ECC) status for the portion of the memory, determines if a number of errors associated with the portion is greater than a predefined ECC threshold and performs a correction, responsive to determining that a number of errors associated with the portion is greater than a predefined ECC threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies for implementing Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) security are provided herein. As disclosed herein, firewall functionality can be implemented for a WPAN-capable device to control access to resources of the device over a WPAN. In one example, a WPAN protocol can be extended to include low-level access control measures that enable analysis of communication requests to and/or from a device prior to acting on the requests. As described herein, a WPAN firewall associated with a device can be configured to block, monitor, and/or log respective resource accesses to and/or from a WPAN. WPAN firewall functionality as described herein can be configured using mechanisms such as an Application Programming Interface (API) and/or a user control interface. Additionally, lateral regulation of security policies for a WPAN and one or more other networks utilized by a device can be provided.

Abstract: A method adjusts a computing device. The method receives configuration data relating to at least two functionalities of the device. The method adjusts configurations of components of the device as a function of the configuration data so that the device performs as if a first functionality of the at least two functionalities is a primary functionality of the device. The wireless communication device includes a wireless transceiver capable of communicating with a Bluetooth-enabled wireless device having a call button for initiating a command. A control switch is coupled to the wireless transceiver for initiating a push to talk session in the wireless transceiver. A processor is coupled to the control switch and the wireless transceiver. The processor initiates the push to talk session upon receiving the command from the Bluetooth-enabled wireless device.

The obtained data is processed to generate a wireless address of the device and a first message is transmitted to the device for establishing a wireless connection. The first message is addressed to the wireless address. When a first response message is received from the device, a second message is transmitted to the device. The first response message is generated in response to the first message and includes the wireless address. The second message includes synchronization data. When a second response message is received from the device, the wireless connection is established with the device. The second response message is generated in response to the second message.

The computing arrangement communicates with a further device only during the second time interval.

The operating system includes data format translator applications that may be called by the operating system in order to convert the data to the proper format. The decision as to which data format translator application should be called may be made by using information on the input device which the data came from, as well additional information, to determine if a conversion application or other application is required.
