  • Publication number: 20030011471
Abstract: An apparatus (12) for detecting motion within an area is provided. The apparatus (12) comprises a control module (28) for controlling operation of the apparatus (12) and for determining whether motion is sensed within the area. The apparatus (12) also comprises at least one slave module (e.g., 30), remotely located from the control module (28), for sensing motion within the area in response to control information from the control module (28) and for providing sensory information to the control module (28). The control module (28) and the at least one slave module (e.g., 30) include components for wireless communication of signals conveying the control information and the sensory information.

  • Patent number: 6369468
Abstract: A system (10) for detecting the state of a switch device (60) includes a driver circuit (40) having an output (42) operative to provide a driver output signal. An indicator (44) is electrically connected between the driver circuit (40) and the switch device (60). The indicator (44) is activated in response to the driver output signal and upon the switch device (60) being in a first state. A monitoring circuit (70), which is responsive to the switch device (60) through the indicator (44), is electrically connected to a node (64) between the indicator (44) and the driver circuit (40). The monitoring circuit (70) is operative to provide a first signal in response to the switch device (60) being in the first state and a second signal in response to the switch device (60) being in a second state. The monitoring circuit (70) controls energization of a controller (28) so as to power the controller (28) when the switch device (60) is in the first state.

  • Patent number: 5894207
Abstract: An apparatus (20) controls a seat positioning motor (32) and a seat heater (44) of an occupant seat (22). The apparatus includes common switches (62, 70) electrically connected to both the motor (32) and the seat heater (44). The common switches permits connection of the motor and the seat heater to a source of electric energy (B+). A controller (38) is connected to the common switches for selectively controlling actuation of the motor and the seat heater through the common switches.

  • Patent number: 5847911
Abstract: Current flow between a battery (14) and electrical ground (18) and through a load (16) is controlled by an apparatus (10). Preferably, the load (16) is a seat heat element. A current direction sensitive MOSFET (34) acts as a switch to control the current flow. The MOSFET (34) has a source (40) connected to the load (16), a drain (42) intended for connection to a positive terminal (26) of the battery (14), and a gate (46) for receiving a control voltage. Transistors (56, 66) control the voltage at the gate (46) of the MOSFET (34). The apparatus (10) is self-protecting against damage upon reverse polarity connection of the battery (14). A switch-protecting resistor (36) is intended for connection to electrical ground (18). The switch-protecting resistor (36) provides a path for electrical energy from the battery (14) to the gate (46) of the MOSFET (34) when the battery (14) is reverse polarity connected.
